Oats has had better players at Alabama in the last few years than Kentucky. He hasn’t had a problem getting top talent here so it’s not like going to Kentucky suddenly means he’s flush with talent. He has a top 5 class coming in at Alabama next year. There’s a pretty negligible difference in the type of players he’d get at Kentucky and a whole hell of a lot more headache.

I won’t fault him if he chooses to go and I’ll always be a fan and appreciate his time. But I sincerely hope he realizes he is the guy here and can keep building something special.

It's going to take more than platitudes to keep Oats here. It's going to take a lot of cash. Maybe that won't sit well with Byrne and the trustees, after giving him a nice raise. But the reality is, Kentucky will pay him more. And we have to make it too expensive for them or we will lose our roster, our recruiting class, and all of our momentum.
