Always feels great to see it come from the horse's mouth. But an insider at the level of Trilly telling us how people close to him say he doesn't want the UK (or UL) job and enjoys being at Alabama with what he's built gives me so much more confidence that he's here for the long haul. Coaches often talk about how happy they are and then leave for a better job when it becomes available for them. Nice to truly know that what he says holds more weight than most other coaches, even if it gave me nearly 24 hours worth of heart palpitations to find out

2 most common UK fan responses on Twitter to Oats announcement:
He wasn't even offered.
Cal said the same thing last week. A lot of coaches say this right before they take another job.
They are down bad.

Speaking of Yea Alabama and Oats staying, I like Yea Alabama but I do sort of wish they had more options beyond the monthly Netflix store subscription method.
I think that can be valuable but raising money for NiL with things like signed memorabilia and more ticket raffles. And I know they do things like that on and off, but I do think you have a chance of raising more money if the NiL contributors are spending on something. Like I’d personally be more likely to buy a $200 signed Oats autographed basketball than a yearly subscription for ostensibly the same cost.
I want to support and I will. Also help if we could earmark the sports we want to contribute to.

Rant today: Saban compared to calipari and Will muschamp is the same as calipari

I agree 1000%. I pay the lowest tier but I would gladly buy signed merch. I get that conflicts with the second tier a bit but I really think they would see more contributions.

This Kentucky coaching search is similar to Bama's 2006 coaching search for football... nothing like Bama's 2024 search.
While UK basketball isn't as low as Bama football was at the time, it's been in a seriously long dry spell nationally. It'll be interesting if they can get their basketball version of Saban...which would probably be Hurley at UConn or Donovan. Those are the only "grand slam" options out there.

Uconn missing all the threes they nailed against Bama

Bama needed one other player to step up, Griffin or Stevenson and we would have won that game.
