I think we would look at Hodgson. Recruiting is half the battle in CBB, and that dude is pulling 4 stars to Arky St with no NIL. He is a truly great recruiter.
Plus he would run the same system.

If Oats leaves its not because of salary
This is basically Saban to Texas 2.0. I would doubt we just raised 1.5 Billion and then we let Oats walk after our first final four

I don’t think he will leave but if he does Hodgson or Bucky IMO

Didn't UK learn from Bill Curry? Taking Alabama coaches doesn't work in Lexington.

I’ll never say there is a 0% chance but I seriously doubt Oats is going to entertain Kentucky. He just signed a massive contract and I think his real aspirations are NBA.

Would be totally fine with him testing the NBA waters. He's earned it. Kentucky would leave a bad taste in our mouths, though.

I swear to God if Arkansas’ gay lockerroom love triangle is the butterfly effect that loses Oats for us

I believe UK basketball job is like BAMA football. If they call, you listen and Arky is going to free up $33m for UK to use to not pay his buyout.
It would be difficult to not take that UK job.
BAMA about to get blue-blooded.
Oats will win a natty by year 3 at UK if not before.
This blows.

What a disaster that would be for Bama. Losing the best coach we have had and a great recruiting class ( who would want out of NLI) … just hope he loves it here as much as people say

UK will give Oats $10m/year and the UK brand.
How can you say "No"?

Let's hope this isn't the worst offseason for any of us.

Highly highly doubt that. He has several daughters still in school, youngest is in middle school and the oldest is at UA. Not the time to uproot them.

I don’t really get the NBA angle, it’s not like we scheme ridiculously well on offense
NBA is basically managing players and scheming here and there

You wouldn't uproot your children for UK basketball coaching job? Sorry. Jobs like UK don't come around that often. UK is only open now because they were tired of Calipari and Arky was desperate.
If Calipari coached at BAMA, how long do you think it would be before BAMA got tired of him? The only answer is Never. Calipari would NEVER coach at BAMA, though. He wouldn't even answer Byrne's call.
UK got tired of a guy that won them a natty.
BAMA would build him a statue. We aren't the same.

Do you watch much NBA? If a team doesn't have a generational big man, they run the same offense or a variation that Oats runs at BAMA. Dunks, 3s, and FTs.

If you’re offering $10 mil a yr why go after oats when you can get the best coach in the country in hurley?
That don’t make no sense. Lol

I understand UK’s brand but I’m not sure if I agree with UK being a “must take” job in today’s climate. There are a few schools that spend just as much, or more, than UK in the past few years and don’t require the same expectations.
This isn’t college football where Ohio State and Alabama’s spending is on a different stratosphere entirely. I also don’t think Byrne wouldn’t counter 10M a year considering how we viewed Saban’s contract relative to return

Try reading before you comment. NBA, not Kentucky.

You're living in the past. Oats has everything he needs at Bama, and will get a new arena before long.
