Well we’re playing the guy out of position, he’s only there because of his height. Let’s cut the guy some slack. He probably can’t wait to transfer at this point.

Gonaga v Kansas is some great basketball thus far.

Some folks just don't like honest criticism, I guess.
Nelson played so poorly, Alabama was largely better served with Pringle or Wague and a stretch four out there.
With all that said, Nelson has an opportunity in this 2nd round game. This is a veteran team even though many of them are playing at Alabama for the first time. Experience is an asset in tourney games and between them. I bet Nelson will provide more of a spark against GCU. He's not gone into the tank this year despite having several games where he's struggled due to mismatch problems playing the 5 as a 4 man.

Why would he transfer? Alabama should have a starter-quality 5 body type next year and he could play 4 again. FYI, I think he would be a great 4 in this offense. He has a credible 3 shot for a guy his size but he has the wingspan and build to handle post up 4s.

Nelson was a no show
The rebounding was baffling because it wasn't like CoC had significant size. Their guards and wings were just swarming the boards like gnats and Nelson was not being decisive and stabbing those things out of the air or redirecting them to a teammate.
I think he'll play better tomorrow. He's had games where he couldn't stay on the court or was better not on the court then turned around and been absolutely essential to the win in the next game.

Nelson can’t play in that type of game. He’s not athletic enough. It’s why he probably never plays in the NBA. Honestly his game is much better suited to a slower half court type game

I think Michigan St. is going to get Carolina

Not to get ahead of ourselves but if we were to win tomorrow, where would we likely play next Friday?
I've been looking for a bracket with locations but can't find anything.

Izzo games CBB. His team dramatically underperforms during the season, then he can be Mr. March by winning as a lower seed even though his team has no business being a low seed.

As I have mentioned several times, if Nelson goes to overseas markets, he can receive a large amount of salary. The most popular type of player in overseas markets is the big man who can handle the ball.

I think it’d be Los Angeles Thursday

Potentially Oats against Izzo

Not Europe. They got bigs who can shoot the rock from the 3. Somewhere like Japan, Israel, or the Philippines. But even those countries can get a big brute to bang down low

Gonzaga has made nine straight Sweet 16’s. Pretty damn good

GCU was significantly more athletic than SMC was, and the type of team that can bother us on both ends. They can drive past our slow footed perimeter defenders and are fast enough to run us off the 3 point line.
As badly as we lost the rebounding battle against Charleston, we’ll be giving up just as many or more O-boards to GCU’s athletes if we don’t decide to start rebounding. Think we’d rather have played SMC, but we still have a good chance to win as long as we don’t go cold from 3 and decide to rebound and play defense.

Damn it, UNC won.
UNC wins against Michigan St. If Bama wins against GCU, they will play UNC.

On the bright side, it'll be Hubert Davis instead of legendary Tom Izzo opposing us

Stevenson vs. UNC is pretty interesting.
Makes me a little nervous though, after the random Holman vs LSU scratch in baseball only to see Holman pitching for LSU on a huge NIL deal the following year.
