Ellis was great last night but I need to rewatch the last couple minutes and see what role he played in that mess. I thought he was the guy that could attack the press and get to the free throw line and ice a game (thinking Chris Lykes). But yeah, he was exactly what we needed him to be prior to that.

My big takeaway was Chandler Lawson, particularly when he plays with Brazile. That’s a front court we can win with. I have no clue how he has had such a pedestrian career prior to now. His length on defense is unbelievable.

It looked like duke switched from a 2-2-1 press to slow down the tempo to a 1-2-1-1 diamond press trapping as soon as possible instead of trying to force the ball to a corner for a trap.

I'm this scenario the guards have to handle the pressure and dribble thru to break it or allow a trap and curl a guard to the middle to be able to brake it with the bounce and a pass.

The guards were trying to break the press with lateral passes which actually aided the press in this case. This confused and frustrated the guards.

There isn't many teams who use the diamond press anymore or use it in the way they did last night.
