The link the University provided goes to ESPN+ (I don’t subscribe to it either). Won’t hurt to check SECN+ around game time. Currently SECN+ is only listing baseball games for later today.

UCF fixing to take down AU. The UCF pitcher is going down to one knee during her wind up. This seems like over kill and should strain leg muscles on a long hot day. Anyone explain why she does this. I know it is muscle memory in her delivery at this late stage of her career.

But Pawllllllllllllll Murph said post season is like starting over. Sounds like the same SOS for me. Great pitching and shitty hitting. The Sunshine pumpers, including his former players, are going to sing his praises for a great game. This against the 4 seed.

Patrick Murphy Earns 1,300th Career Win in 1-0 Shutout to Open NCAA Regional Play
A sixth-inning RBI single gave the Crimson Tide a one-run win over USC Upstate
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama head softball coach Patrick Murphy earned his 1,300th career win in a 1-0 shutout over USC Upstate to open NCAA Regional play Friday at Rhoads Stadium.
Murphy now has 1,272 wins at Alabama, a position he has held since 1999, along with 28 wins from his stint as interim head coach at Northwest Missouri State in 1995. After Friday's win, the Crimson Tide has now won its opening game in NCAA Regionals every year since 2003.
Alabama (34-17) and USC Upstate (30-22) were locked in a scoreless pitcher's duel until a sixth-inning single from Jenna Johnson and a stolen base set up Bailey Dowling for the go-ahead RBI, a two-out single through the left side. Jocelyn Briski (8-5) threw 6.1 hitless innings with Kayla Beaver securing the final two outs courtesy a 4-6-3 double play to earn her fourth save of the season.
Briski allowed just two baserunners across 6.1 innings pitched with a single and a walk in the freshman's postseason debut. Johnson and Dowling were both 2-for-3 on the day, their ninth and seventh multi-hit games of the season, respectively.
From Head Coach Patrick Murphy
"To have two freshman [pitchers] in their first postseason starts put together performances like that was remarkable to see. Kudos to [Upstate pitcher Sierra Maness] and Jocelyn Briski. She has been doing a great job for us this year. In the postseason it's survive and advance. It doesn't matter if it's 1-0, 8-0 or 10-9 - you only need to score one more run than the other team. USC Upstate made a lot of plays as did our defense. Briski was awesome and Bailey Dowling came up with the key hit."

The softball slate for today. This Southeastern team is mostly slappers and they slap hit very well and are very fast. Fielding needs to be on point today. Surprised to see Clemson in the losers bracket (Southeastern put them there).

Ok we got our run. Up 1-0. Let’s sit on it Murph

At least we scored earlier than yesterday. Let's hope Bama pitching holds up again.

It looked like if Broadfoot had enough in her to jump at the base runner she would have gotten her. Lack of something there let the run score.

would Greg be forced to make changes if Murph does not win the home regional? Another game where only one run is scored by Bama after 6. If our first base coach last year was not the hitting coach and this years numbers are worse, than it becomes obvious she was not the problem. What has Kayle Braud brought to the table?

Hard to fathom being this bad offensively
Posted on 5/18/24 at 12:36 pm to Bear88
I get my fix on by watching other SEC teams on ESPN knock the crap out of the ball. UT and UF have no problems hitting.
Posted on 5/18/24 at 12:41 pm to mrbroker
Greg is going to make one anyway.
I can feel it in my bones.

Players come here and REGRESS offensively under Patrick Murphy.

Top 5 job in the country and we can’t hire a top hitting coach or recruit that type of player ….i realize “everybody is pretty good” in the post season but we are in a nail biter with Southeastern Louisiana and South Carolina Upstate? At Home? GTFOH

We recruit top tier players but the development here is absolute TRASH!
