What is your confidence level in the offensive line from last year‘s to this year’s?
How is Umanmielen’s recovery going / projected return date?
Has Perkins added any weight?

OL will be night and day from last year. The offensive line was miserable at times and nearly lost us a couple of games (Tulane, Arky, etc) so it will be much better. Pounds and the Washington guys I’ve heard great things about and overall we’ve just added a bunch of depth which is huge because 5 guys aren’t gonna be able to go all game with the offense we’re running. Not worried about them at all.
Umanmielen I don’t anticipate to be back until Kentucky/SC ish. I don’t really think he actually had to have that surgery. It wasn’t life or death for him to get it and he could’ve played through it. I’d be a lot angrier if the first few games weren’t jokes so overall not that worried.
Perk has added around 5-10 lbs to his frame. He will be a hybrid role this year which I’m excited about.
Also, Juice Wells is the truth. He’s just as good as Tre Harris. Yes, I realize what I just said.

How does the RB room look behind Bentley?
Any groups you potentially see being a weakness this year (talent or depth)?

QB - solid
RB - good
Bentley, Parrish, and Amos will be a good trio. I want diggs back badly. I don’t think people realize how good he is. He tore us up in that game last year. Hopefully mid October at best
WR - lol
OL - good group. Described above
TE - Prieskorn will be one of the best when the year finishes. That VA Tech TE looks like a freaking monster. I expect him to pick up around 500 yards this year. Just wait until you see him on the field. I actually expect Hudson Wolfe to have a good year if his glass bones can hold up too
DL - really excited about this group. Should be a ton of fun. The fact that Zay is a backup tells you all you need to know. Princely just needs to get back and then this group will be among the best in the nation
LB - buy Dudley stock. He will kill it this year. Don’t even need to say anything about Perkins. Pooh Paul looks serviceable but if you are expecting him to be a world beater I think you need to temper it. He’ll be good but not crazy or anything. Solid group overall.
DB - if you had to make me pick the most concerning position group I’d say it’s probably this one. Hamilton from Houston and Amos from Alabama look to be pretty good. Will it all mesh together? These guys have to be in sync as miscommunication hurts this position group more than anywhere else on the football field. I think they’ll be good and will be bailed out by the DL, but this is the group I’m moderately concerned about. Saunders, Graves, and Washington coming back is solid too. I am high on Yam Banks the South Alabama transfer as well. That’s this year’s daijan Anthony.
***PUNTING*** - I feel like everyone forgot how bad we were at this last year. It was miserable to watch and often put our opponents in favorable field position. That absolutely has to get better. One bad punt could end our season in a pivotal moment so I’m pretty concerned about this

Having a solid punter is such an underrated asset IMO. Remember Will Gleeson? Dude often pinned the ball within the 20 and it set our defense up for a lot more success.
What about Khari Coleman? I was surprised a while back to see he is still with us / had more eligibility.

Him and Raymond collins will both be great contributors. Pete (I) runs such a revolving door scheme there really won’t be true starters. It just depends on the specific scheme and situation. I just try to tune Khari out because I know more about his arrest last august than anyone would ever care to know

What's the climate on the Deion Smith situation?
Posted on 7/26/24 at 12:24 pm to Insideradvantage
It’s all dependent on whether he can make the grades in two of his classes. We’ll know around the end of this month

Man, I hope he gets what he needs for all concerned. If he does, I assume we could see Harris, Wells and Smith on the field at the same time. That sounds sorta dangerous for the opposition.

Who do you think will be the surprise star this year?

Corey Amos has re-committed

Feels like he’s been trying to qualify since Covid
Like damn he really did have almost a 0.0 gpa and had to bring it up from nothing which is impressively bad

Houston Nutt would’ve gotten him qualified

I see we are going after a transfer receiver from Utah State. Are there any injury concerns at WR that we don't know about?
Seems odd we would go for another transfer for this upcoming season this close to the season unless someone isn't healthy.

Or we know Deion isn't going to qualify...

I get this is jumping to conclusions and all, but if dude can’t manage an overall C average at I assume 12 hours per semester in general studies or something after all this, he just ain’t cut out for college and what could be a wildly successful football career.

I’m getting the indication that Deion was given the green light. That’s what they’re thinking right now. Of course, we won’t know for sure until final grades come out which is sometime this weekend. But they’re optimistic. Now here comes the next question. Will he be game ready and learn the playbook. Clearly there’s some valid concern there I think that’s why you’re seeing the late addition. The Utah state situation is unique in CFB. Their coach was fired which means it’s a free for all for players right now. They have some guys on their team that would be serviceable attrition pieces this year and could bloom into great players for us down the line. So yeah we’re going after their players. I don’t expect him to be the last one we get either

According to 247, Smith is “fully eligible.”
