Arkansas produces some high level basketball players considering it's size.

Is it just me, or does Louisiana produce the most athletes across the Big 3 sports than any other state with a similar population? Hmm I’m using the eye test tho.

Not so much in MBB.

The fact that Mississippi has the smallest population in the league and still has two different teams that are at least semi-competitive in the toughest division in college football is impressive as heck.

From the board members doing bath salts.

It never ends with them.

They have quite a bit of competition from other high level division one programs that are outside the state.

With the SEC possibly adding new teams, this is Miss States chance to join the sunbelt.

they could compete for a conference championship and their fans wouldn’t know the difference.

We don’t need another crappy blue state. Georgia has already filled that position.

Defining an entire state by a small, high population section.

Come to the valley where I live and tell everyone we're a "crappy blue state".

Draw a line from Houston to Dallas. Then look east of the lineand you can field a top five college football program.

There are sports other than football that many care about. Maybe whatever team you support doesn’t know anything about that.

Nick Saban said one of the reasons he took the job was Louisiana was a Top 5 recruiting state based on per capita numbers. With Tulane out of the SEC, they also had no P5 in state school to recruit against.

Mississippi has 2 P5's
Oklahoma has 2 P5's
Kentucky has 2 P5's

Arkansas - 3,063,152

Folks like Bear Bryant was from there but left to find success in another state

Kentucky's population always surprises me. It isn't a huge state, geographically. It should pass Louisiana soon, since Louisiana is shrinking.
