1. South Carolina

(Large gap, like your mom)

2. Arkansas

3. OU

4. Missouri - literally the worst ever addition, excepting for ...

6. Two Texas teams

Arkansas and South Carolina have been around so long they don't really feel like expansion teams anymore. Ranking them from best (how well they fit and excitement they bring to football games they are in) to least exciting:

1. Arkansas
2. South Carolina
3. Oklahoma
4. Texas
5. Texas A&M
6. Mizzouri

While UT and OU haven't arrived they still have the excitement around them. A&M still feels too new and like another Ole Miss. Mizzouri still feels out of place (despite winning the East) and feels like another Kentucky. They may upset someone but aren't likely to win the conference.

South Carolina. Belongs
Arkansas. Belongs.
Oklahoma. Belongs
Texas. Could belong with their history.
Texas AM. Could belong with their opinion of the championships they could win one day.

Arkansas and South Carolina are cool. The other 4 I’m kind of “meh” over

Because someone convinced SEC brass "media markets" and TV revenue are in the best interest of the conference and its members. Or maybe they convinced themselves. I'm not sure.

I'm fairly certain Bernie Machen (former UF president) played a significant role. There were rumblings early on about them within UF circles. He was friends with the chancellor of Missouri and was pretty active in the expansion process since he was the leader of the presidents/chancellors of the SEC at the time.

They had the right connections at the right time.

I like Carolina and Arky being on board and they are pretty much OG’s at this point. I think I’m gonna like having Oklahoma, and I don’t really get or give a frick about Mizzouri, but both Texas schools are just straight up weird AF.

Each team brings their own positives.

ATM brings lots of money, more than even Bama. South Carolina has great fan support and has usually been competitive. Arkansas supercharged an old rivalry with Ole Miss and they developed ones with both MS State and LSU. So overall, new teams have brought something to the table.
The lone outlier has been Missouri. When we invited them, I was scratching my head (as were a lot of us) and their school's antics of allowing a bunch of leftwing nutters to take over their campus was a damn embarrassment to the conference. So yeah, if we could lose them, I wouldn't be too upset. They are like the drunk cousin that nobody wants to claim a connection with.
As for OU or Texas, I can't tell yet. Let's see how they make their presence known in 2024.

I think the SEC thought inviting Misery would open the St. Louis and Kansas City markets to us. They miscalculated - because neither market cares about Misery.

The first expansion should have been Texas teams
Mizzou ark and ou don’t work for me
South Carolina has been a good fit
I would have gotten Clemson and fsu to join and head into North Carolina over three mentioned above

was the first choice when SC and Arky joined. FSU turned us down.

understand that most here don’t know where players went to school cause their mental capacity is shite but go off.

Or maybe bc 5 schools in this conference have won a national championship the last 2 decades so there are bigger moments going on then remembering what a historically shitty program like Mizzou has a kid go to the NFL

For good reason. We were.

Probably a better description is that most the deep south is in the orbital pull of Atlanta. Arkansas isn't.

Dallas is where Arkansas people went to "the big city" to go shopping, most Arkansas people are Dallas Cowboys fans, (with the Chiefs being a distant second).

The most significant OOS student and alumni state has always been Texas, and nobody else is a close second. That only gets more true as DFW explodes in population.

I can’t upvote this enough. I’d much rather have SC than Clemson. SC fans generally have some self awareness. I’m a pretty conservative Christian and Dabo just gives me the wrong vibe.
