We were picked 6th in the East this year but where do you guys see us actually finishing?
I'm going 4th or 3rd in the east 8-4 (4-4)

Surprise 2nd
We surprise UGA, but lose a close one to UT and either SC or KY.

I could live with 4th at 8-4 (4-4).
I got to wondering how accurate these Post-SEC Media Days predictions were so I looked it up. Some observations:
-Spot on last 2 years (4th & 6th)
-Average for last 11 years under-projects us .5 (Actual average finish: 4.3, preseason prediction: 4.8)
-Worst UNDER projection: 2013 of course, (prediction: 6th, actual: 1st)
-Worst OVER projection: 2015 (prediction: 3rd, actual: 6th)

We will know early. 2-3 if we beat state, 4-6 if we lose to state. By guess is 3rd.

If we get good to very good QB play, 2nd. If we don't, 6th is probably right.

No clue, dont care. Goal should be 5-3 in the SEC at a minimum or time for a regime change.

8-4
How Coach Brown has improved the offensive line will be the biggest factor if Horn or Garcia is the starter.
Horn has a lot of potential. He is mobile and has a strong arm. He is going to make mistakes and we need a good OL to help cut down on them.
Like Horn Garcia has high upside, but he is not as mobile as Horn or Cook. He runs around a 4.9 forty(Cook 4.53) with a best of 4.85. His stats from last year don’t look great, because he was sacked around 15% of the time and had 25 carries for negative 75 yards.
With a average OL
Cook as the starter
5-7
Horn or Garcia
7-5 to 9-3
If the OL is bad it could be a 5-7 or 4-8 season.

Maybe we shall be looking for a better OL coach if you are thinking the OL might be an issue. This isn't what Drinkwitz want to hear and see fans saying the OL may be an issue.
I on the other hand says OL will be great! The team will make huge strides and win 8 or more regular season games.

Our OL coach got pushed out the door at the end of Spring practice and went to Purdue. Drink wasn’t happy with the performance of the OL during Spring practice.
We hired Brandon Jones Co-Offensive Coordinator and OL coach from Houston in late March. He brought a 4* transfer OLmen with him. Hopefully Jones can make this line better than last years.

Houston’s offensive line has been among the most productive pass protection units in the country under Jones’ leadership. He has spent the past four seasons with the Cougars, with five of his players making an All-AAC team. He’s had two former players make it to the NFL, as well.
quote:
It was announced just a few short weeks ago that first team All-AAC guard Cam’Ron Johnson plans to enter the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining.
We have a tough schedule, but most of the games are at home. KState, LSU, Tenn, @Georgia, @UK, SC, FL, and @Arkansas. The Hogs will be tough in Fayetteville this year. We could go 5-3 or 2-6 in these games

9-3 with good QB play. If it’s Cook again- 6-6.

Why are you down on Cook? Just because he didn't get things going doesn't mean he will do better this year if given the nod to be the starter. New OC plus had surgery on shoulder and what could make him much better? Arm strength been his weakest link. Now he got a full year in and with healthy shoulder and a much better offensive coordinator to help him lead to a better year than last year.
Are you telling me Drinkwitz doesn't want the team to be much better if Cook starts over the other quarterbacks?

He has a weak arm that doesn’t open up the field. His arm allows the defense to play up and cover the receiver.
He makes bad reads and bad decisions. Like when he would pass to screens that were covered for loss of yards when he should have thrown to the check down, ran, or thrown it away.
There are a few other reasons why we are the only FBS school to offer him. Odom was a terrible QB recruiter.
Last year he was probably the worst starting QB in the SEC. He wouldn’t have started at any other school in the SEC except maybe Vandy.

Pretty much this. It also limits his scrambling. Since the safeties play up close he isn't able to scramble for as many yards.
James Franklin was a deep threat back in the day which opened up more scrambling yards and TJ moe and our TE for short to medium gains.

Then why some say if he is the starter will go 6-6 or 5-7? I am saying if he is that bad then Drinkwitz will be fired. I would think he would be better because he was hurt and might be able to make deep throws with a healthy shoulder. But you all are saying if he is the starter. Why put that out at all? Unless other quarterbacks aren't any better than Cook and some of you will want Drinkwitz fired before mid-way through the season.

If neither Garcia or Horn end up starting over Cook - then yes - Drink should be fired for being inept at landing a QB.
Posted on 7/26/23 at 8:38 pm to MIzzouMark
If Cook's arm is 100% it's just as good as Franklin's arm was, and just as healthy. Drink said it himself at media days. The QB who consistently delivers it downfield will be the guy.
All of them will get their shot in camp. A couple of them will play during the first game
and be given the chance to deliver when the lights are on. I bet we see a lot of big plays through the air in those first two games, or attempts to anyway. It's going to be fun, and I'm saying 8-4.
