Since everyone is so fascinated with Horns Down being a penalty

For decades, opposing players did the Horns Down sign to our players and fans and no one cared?
What changed?
This play
A Texas WR catches a long TD pass in Lubbock, does the Texas Tech Guns Up hand sign and then 'holsters' his guns.....and that drew a penalty.
Only then did Texas ask why is this a penalty but Horns Down is not a penalty. All of this crap started because of stupid refs.
The same thing happens in the SEC by the way.

I am actually warming to the idea of having Texas and Oklahoma in the conference now. I look forward to their fans and teams being trolled upon greatly. It will not take long for them to get a chip on the shoulder. These schools are only going to make the whole conference stronger. Look forward to the banter. It is going to be so easy to mess with Texas.

People shouldn't be fascinated with such stupid things.
It's a hand gesture. It's not a throat slash in a players face or the middle finger or hand gun sign.... it's your school's "hook 'em" hand sign. For the record, your school is the ones that probably got all butt hurt the first time it happened and since their feelings were hurt, they wanted it to be a penalty. It's fricking childish and damn stupid.

Longhorn fans LOVE when teams and fans do the horns down. All it does is validate us and confirm that we’re on the opponents’ mind to the point that their fans care more about seeing Texas lose than their own team win

It’s not a special or new rule in the SEC. It’s taunting. Just don’t do it in a players face and it’s not a penalty. Jesus Christ.
