I haven't been following this closely, but it kinda sounds a lot like the Walker Howard situation with LSU.
Big splash on the recruiting front, probably helped contribute to getting some other guys too. Then you see everyone on the practice field, and you realize the kid doesn't match the hype. In Howard's case, we knew he wasn't going to beat out Daniels, who was an established starter at the P5 level with freakish athleticism. The eye-opener was that he was never going to challenge Nussmeier, a guy with a good arm that didn't really move the needle as a recruit.
I guess Manning might be the same thing. Makes headlines for recruiting because "name", but you might never see the dude start or play.

Manning can't sniff Raiola's jock strap...or Gunner Stockton's for that matter.

Just a wee bit early for emphatic proclamations considering nobody has seen any of the 3 play a meaningful CFB snap.

So this thread has covered how Arch Manning is already a let down because he hasn’t beat out RS SO Quinn Ewers before fall camp of his FR year…

Everyone is dropping a bunch of bags. Getting the #1 recruit in the nation in June or whatever and then having them aggressively recruit for you is a game changer.

The highest rated QB in the history of recruiting rankings

should be able to start day 1 unless he’s behind a Newton, Burrow, Tebow, Manziel etc.

Ewers isn’t at that level, and if he can’t start over Ewers he’s not the best recruit of all time. Fwiw I don’t even think he was in the Top 5 QB recruits in his own class.
quote:Good point. Every recruiting service that ranks a QB high expects them to throw for 400 yards in their first spring game that occurs 1 month before their high school prom.
I don’t think he’s bad by any means, just not what the recruiting services made him out to be by a long shot
It's almost as if you believe what you just typed

Dude didn't even look impressive against shite competition.
He's gonna flop pretty hard.

Didn't he break several of his NFL HoF uncles' records at said school against the same competition?

Arch Manning
I have no doubt he's a good, maybe even great QB but I don't expect him to make any drastic improvement (aside from experience playing CFB) as he's had world class coaching his entire life
It's kind of a what you see is what you get kind of deal

Feh. Maalik Murphy is the future.

I almost included the whole pic but figured five shirtless dudes would be too much for these guys. Hoping their is some dream scenario where Arch & Maalik can both be the future. The first step is Quinn playing well enough to get drafted this year

Not saying he is or will be terrible. But if his last name wasn’t Manning, he probably would have been a 3 star with limited D1 options.

The title and diatribe do not match at all.
Not all 4-5* guys are created equal. Arch seemed a bit overhyped while guys like Nico for the Vols is flying under the radar in an ideal situation.
