Bill Oliver - along with Stallings and others - put together one of the greatest defensive game plans you’ll ever see. Toretta was lost. Alabama’s Barker only threw about 10 passes.

Surely there is a better candidate than Julio Jones to make your point.

They need deserving ones. All we do over there is buy a ticket and honor the players and teams by looking at their stuff. Big freakin deal if we have more of our favorite players to look at.
We have quality players who are in the pro football HOF that will never qualify for CHOF. And not because they weren't dominant during their college days.

Before Devin White, Bradie James was the most consistent LSU LB I’ve ever seen

Was a great play even though Miami still got the ball back for a penalty I think.

If I’m not bad mistaken I think Alabama was missing the guy that had started at Middle Linebacker all year. Maybe you can confirm for me since it was so long ago but Oliver and Stallings kinda come up with this complicated game plan and then the starting Middle Linebacker has a car wreck during bowl practice and is out for the game.
That was the greatest Defense in the history of college football in my opinion and the gameplay you mentioned that Stallings and Brother Oliver came up with for that game was the greatest game plan in the history of college football. That plan couldn’t be done with just any group of guys. They made it look easy that night though.

Coaches
Jim Carlen-West Virginia (1966-69), Texas Tech (1970-74), South Carolina (1975-81)
Tommy Tuberville-Mississippi (1995-98), Auburn (1999-08), Texas Tech (2010-12), Cincinnati (2013-16)
The bar for coaches must be pretty low to induct either, imo.

Oft-forgotten trivia note — Mario Cristobal was one of those guys attempting to block for Torretta that night.
Super-oft-forgotten trivia note - This man was also a member of that Miami team.

Oh wow, I actually did forget about that!
He didn't really play much though, right?

Also oft forgotten was that Tommy Tuberville was Miami's defensive coordinator.

I'm not sure if he actually played at all in the game. He definitely didn't record a single defensive stat. But he was on the sidelines.

He also ran down T.O. when he celebrated a TD on the star at the old Cowboys stadium.

Yes, we were off sides and the play didn't count, but if he didn't take the ball away, Miami would have had the ball down at 10-15 yard line.
Some say it was the greatest play that didn't count but completely changed a football game!

To me:
Garrison Hearst
Takeo Spikes
Richard Seymour
Michael Oher
Antonio Langham
I remember Willie Gault, but not at UT. So if someone added him I wouldn't be opposed. There are a few names I simply don't remember ever seeing play.

I didn’t remember that part. I remember Curry and Copeland and that secondary just locking the Canes down. Lemanski Hall and Antonio London were LBs if I remember correctly. I believe Tommy Johnson had a killer game also along with Teague and Langham.
