re: Alabama fans, be honest, do you think we've seen the beginning of the end for Saban

Psychiatrists could write complete volumes on the inferiority complex of the LSU fan. It’s an amazing, yet sad and pathetic disorder. The main symptoms cause them to be able to do nothing but obsess about and post on anonymous message boards about Alabama and Texas A&M

Sad.

Wasn't due to a lack of talent.

I mean he’s 71 now, so in a sense for anyone above, say 65, it’s the beginning of the end because there are only so many years left. That said, I fully expect Saban to win 1-2 more titles over the next 4-5 years and go out as the best to ever do it. He will also have left the program set up for success both from a talent standpoint as well as organizationally. See Les Miles post Saban at LSU. Those hoping Bama disappears when Saban retires are going to be disappointed, in my estimation.

I don't think they will disappear, just come back to the pack quite a bit.

Alabama had one edge rusher (Anderson) go in the 1st round from either side of the lines.
You let all the bright lights on Young and Anderson get in your eyes when the term "talent" entered your mind.

No, I think he can keep talent good enough to win there, and be in the hunt often, but I don't think he'll ever be as dominate again.

Just because they weren't all first rounders doesn't mean you didn't have talent.

I think Alabama is still capable (just as capable as they have been) of winning a championship any given year, which is about all that one can ask for. We’ll see how things shake out.

I remember in 2013 after the Kick Six, Colin Cowherd said football had passed Saban by, Gus Malzahn was the future of college football,

Well yeah, but Colin Cowherd would rip off his dick and glue it on his forehead if it meant an extra rating point.

Many here believed it.

That's just not accurate. Even in this myopic fricked up place, no one with any sense viewed 2013 as anything but an anomaly. I highly doubt it is any different this year. Alabama is the team to beat in the SEC West.

There's a huge difference in these two statements:
"one of the most talented teams that Saban's ever had"
AND
"doesn't mean you didn't have talent"

But look what has become of the two programs just in the last two seasons. UGA has gone to the top, Bama has gone in the other direction.

Fair enough.

It's also fair to say that Alabama was going undefeated towards a three-peat, and lost their last regular-season game when the kick-six happened.

Clemson went from winning two national championships to a back-to-back Top 15-ish team in about five years.

College football history is littered with programs (and individual teams) that shot to the top and looked unstoppable, until they lost, and sometimes kept losing. Maybe it's Georgia's turn to lose. Maybe Alabama has already lost it.

We hear the exact same rhetoric every time this cycle repeats.

Nick Saban's "imminent" demise continues to be insinuated here weekly, yet he's been the coach since 2007. How are we supposed to answer at this point?

Why not Saban will make Brian Kelly quit? Why people like you think they are know it all. You will be in for a huge shock when the season is over and LSU will not be the one winning the west division this coming season.

I seriously doubt that, with NIL and transfer portal, ANYBODY will have another "Saban/Tide run".

It definitely was.

No need to be obtuse.

This question has been posed several times in his tenure. It’s only louder now because he’s 71

I don't think it's just this. IMO, they've gotten softer along both lines of scrimmage and have been committing more penalties than you'd expect from a Saban team. Those two factors stick out more than the two losses last season.

Would it be surprising if they came out and won a national title next season? Of course not. But there's no denying the on field product has not looked like what you'd normally expect from a Saban team over the last two seasons.

Do you follow recruiting? We'll let you know when it's over.

With your logic you are good with 10-2 because the recruiting didn't fall off for the 2022 team, so no more championships, gotch you.
