Sure you are. BAMA has two last-second losses on the season and on the road and it's over.

I didn't say it was over, I'm saying they don't look as dominant as they used to.

I think most fanbases would be optimistic to get those results in the first year of a rebuild.

This is a loaded question because it's not like the man isn't in his 70's. It's a matter of what you define as "the end." He's an older guy, sure. I don't think he has lost a single step in his own personal abilities.

Does he coach until the absolute bitter end of his physical ability to stand? Does he leave early and leave us all questioning how many more he had in the tank? Does he win 3 more national titles?

How many years does the "end" take, in your mind?

Don't forget LSU got dismantled by Tennessee in Tiger Stadium too.

EDIT: can't believe I'm agreeing with bamameister

Who knows, you could be the start of something brand new in this desolate wasteland.

This question has been posed several times in his tenure. It’s only louder now because he’s 71. There’s still every reason to believe he will prove the doubters wrong once again.

I am not ready to count him out. Son-of-a-gun is like a zombie.

That said, his age is not the only reason people are beginning to doubt him.

1. 2 Losses in a season
2. Close win against a 5 loss Texas team (20-19)
3. Close win against an awful Teas A&M team (24-20)
4. Close win against a 5 loss Ole Miss team (30-24)

Yes. Alabama could have won their games they lost. They were close games won in OT. They could have also lost 3 more games which is crazy. I get that many blame the coordinators, but nobody knows if the current ones will be better, worse or how they will do.

Like I said...I am not counting him out, but there has to be some concern there, too.

Not a Bama fan, but no.

Bama lost two games last year, both of which were in overtime, on the road in hostile environments, and against heated rivals.

Bama has been outclassed and dominated just once since 2010.

Y'all need to calm tfrick down.

This. It may prove to have been the beginning of the end but would it be surprising to anyone for Alabama to beat the brakes off everyone on their schedule this season? If youre being honest the answer is no....

Time will tell but considering what is going on in Athens the sledding to 3 more titles or even 1 is going to be as tough as it was for everyone not named Alabama from 2008 until 2021. Not to mention the potential that another SEC program which has won 3 nattys recently, 2 with coaches who may not have a brain at all, now has a proven winner whose record may be a little misleading considering where most of his career has been and the road to Natty's is going to be harder than it might have been....UGA and LSU ain't far from being Alabama under Saban...

It'll only take another 4 titles for Georgia in the next 10 seasons and 5 for LSU in the next eight to equal Bama's run, but sure.

Uh, the only run that means anything is 2. That's two NCs in the last two years. That sound you hear is Alabama's storied history that you keep referring to becoming ancient history. It's Old Testament history as of right now. After UGA wins it's 3rd straight this season, it will predate the Dinosaurs. That's how things age in the wonderful world of college football...haven't you figured that out yet?

Zero debate on recruiting. Lots of debate on development of players. Gumps can blame that all on the OC & DC, but Nicky hired these guys...

Georgia is the biggest variable in answering your question. They have been unstoppable the past 2 years.

Alabama literally beat Georgia 41–24 a year-and-a-half ago.

Kirby has won one game.

The goal post moving is ridiculous. Vegas had LSU winning 6 games before the year, they won 10 and the SEC West. They return most of the production from that team, of course there is going to be hype heading into this season.

Josh Pate recently had a great segment directed at the casuals who say that type of thing.

But look what has become of the two programs just in the last two seasons. UGA has gone to the top, Bama has gone in the other direction.

4 times since Saban has been at Bama, he has not won the title two years in a row. 07, 08 but won in 09. 13, and 14, but won it in 15, 18 and 19 but won it in 20. So here we are for the 4th time, no title in 20 and 21. My answer is that if Bama wins the title this year, then its business as usual for the program, and there is not really a fall off. If they do not then statistically it will be something that has not happened since he hase been there, so yes it would certainly be a drop off. I say lets get the season here and find out.

Playing devil's advocate, they were also two plays away from 8-4 with one of Saban's most talented teams ever.

Both O & Dlines were C- grades, and WR position became thin and unreliable.

He is clearly on the decline. Still a great coach and great program. Just not on a different level than everyone else like they were 5 years ago.
