And who the heck would have thought McCormick would have come up clutch before the tourney? That’s another thing to note here

Oh I see smoke already beat me to the punch

You would assume Jaylin (12.9/gm),

Jaylin signed with Auburn in 2019. It is no mystery that He is a real disappearing act when it comes to close games. How does he shoot .500 from 3 (29 from 58) when he is front running but shoots a grand total of 1-16 combined in all of our losses?

He needs his alpha playing well...

Wasn’t Jaylin our best player in on of our tourney losses? Maybe Miami. I don’t remember

Jang implores Denver to shoot more.

That’s exactly the point though. No one thought McCormick was that guy at that time or Tre against Iowa. We just have to hope someone that may not be doing a ton right now can step up if needed.

Yep. JVon averaged 4.1/gm that year. And the only game before NMSU that he scored double digits was that horrific game against NC State.

One thing we haven’t talked about yet that concerns me is our lack of experience (and success) in tight games this year. Who is the guy that’s going to knock down the dagger when the shot clock is off? Way more concerned about this than most of the team have a bad night.

I’m with you and I think Bruce is too. He was very vocal about liking what he saw from Denver tonight. He needs to be taking 11+ shots every game. He’s currently averaging less than 6.

I feel like if we had a tie game shot clock off situation we would go to CBM

Aden, CBM, Denver have been our end of the half last second shot guys. They have been successful I would say about 40ish percent of the time just going back through memory

If under 8 seconds on a missed shot it’s probably KD he would take the ball to the rack

Yep. Against Jacksonville State and Miami. Although the Miami game is a great example of what will happen. Despite Williams playing decent, he was the only one and he didnt do enough.

Someone will take Broome out just like Miami took out Jabari and someone else has to step it up.

That’s who I’m thinking too but don’t love him off the dribble so you’re gonna have to run action to get him the ball.

Yeah but our starting 3 that year was Moore and the 2 was Jasper/KD. I think we are much improved at both spots

Edit: whoops, I erased Devan Cambridge from memory. But point still stands

It’s gotta be either CBM or Denver IMO if it’s a 3. If it’s a one point game or a tie then that changes things and puts Broome or Jaylin in play, but I gotta be honest I don’t think Jaylin has that clutch factor to him and don’t want him pulling the trigger with the pressure on.

I remember we drew up a play for Jaylin to shoot a 3 in a similar situation @UT last year and he gave it up like a hot potato despite having an open look. I agree, don’t trust him there

I dont mind Jones, and Donaldson shooting the three. Third candidate would be broome for me.

I agree with Corch if a two is needed KD is the guy.

Denver Jones is the guy for me.

He shoots a higher percentage from 3 on the road, and in losses than he does in the wins, and at home.

He is more on an even-keel in the high adversity environment. He is Jang's champion.

Yeah, the flip is to having won every game by double digits is that we are 0-fer in close games. That doesn't bode well obviously, but hopefully it means we're due.

Dybantsa had glowing reviews from his visit. Said he’s looking for a family feel and a coach that’s going to be hard on him. Will take more visits in the fall before deciding.

Denver Jones

He has an old school western movie star name.

I wish some AUtist would publish a western theme movie poster with Denver featured.
