I just want us to foul as little as possible, but when we do, foul the shite out of them, so much so that we cannot foul them any more aggressively without it being a flagrant.
Is that too much to ask?
And then hit them with the crane kick and all of that. Do anything and everything possible. Get under their skin and watch as they squirm on their hands in their own hangar.

Thanks. That's kinda what I thought, but haven't watched a ton of bama ball. I knew they were elite from 3 and they'd try to get us in foul trouble in the hotel lobby.

They will rely heavily on the 3 ball. Really like auburnnyc94's analysis, it's spot on and the fouls are what worry me most in this game. On the 3 ball stats, here's the season and comparison:
Auburn - FGA 1,101 / 3PA 425 = 38.6%
Bama - FGA 1,098 / 3PA 522 = 47.5%
I love that AU has taken just as many shots as the touted "up tempo" oats offense.

Good analysis by everyone. Keys for me will be as mentioned not fouling on defense. They are efficient on the offensive side but we are really good defensively. However I think to beat them at home is to protect the rim again without committing fouls. Also need to turn them over and add some steals jumping passing lanes.
Fouls
Turning them over
Steals
Might be the major stats to look at. And since we are going to attempt to protect the rim backside defenders need to rebound well

UT did a good job, especially early, of pressuring and staying in front of Sears. Sometimes sending help early. Keeping Sears from getting downhill/penetrating can really stall out their offense. Easier said than done, but I would mix up some early traps on Sears just across half court. Got to be able to rotate and recover without fouling though.

I expect whistles to suddenly be blown like never before. Would not surprise me to do into the game with ticky tack fouls called on us early

Broome and Cardwell will probably have two fouls in 1st half. I’m bracing myself for it. Hope Bruce has a backup plan.

He's one where you have to defend him like he doesn't have a right hand. If he can beat you and finish with his right just tip your cap

That is incredibly high and they have done this before. I remember their first or second year with Oats was a tough Auburn win because they just kept shooting them and even one out of three attempts going in was pesky while trying to close the game out.

It's what made the LSU game a little tight towards the end when they nabbed four or five 3 pt shots in a row. Very difficult to close out, as you said.

Sears was also banged up… probably 80% for the UT game… he’ll be closer to 100 by Wednesday.

They’re a team that guys can’t get lackadaisical on if we get a lead. Bama will commit plenty of turnovers and miss a bunch of shots, but they’re going to keep shooting and they heat up quickly and can pour on points in a hurry. If we get a lead our guys should still try and win by 40.
If and when bama makes the tough, contested three then you tip your cap for that possession and dare them to do it again.

They will have to hit 3s above, their season average, limit turnovers, and get some strong arse home cooking refs. This AU team is way different than recent teams, cause we don’t drop off much when the next 5 come in. That’s why the last few games we have been able to build leads going into half and putting teams away 5 mins and under in 2nd half.

Yep. And Walters will be camped out in the corner all game long. Corner threes are like layups for him.

Gotta keep pressing, go full court and shave off seconds,, push them into uncomfortable and see if they can maintain a real high pace game. Win turnovers, keep assists way up, and rebounds equal. Just don't let them play slow, consider it a points fest, and shot clock violations major victories.
Usual AU game.
And @home almost seems like more of a pressure cooker game for them. They got more at stake than basketball.

If Holloway comes back, we will have an awesome backcourt next season.

The good news is, I'm pretty sure I saw a stat this week that we are the #1 defense in the country at points allowed in the paint. Our defense has always been solid under Bruce, but it really feels like it is on another level this year. We aren't just creating turnovers, but we are defending at every position at a very high level. We are #1 in the SEC in defensive efficiency, effective field goal %, 3 point %, and turnover rate.
No doubt this will be the biggest challenge we have faced offensively, but it sure does make me feel good going into this game. Also, I know that fouling has been issue for us in the past, especially at Alabama, but it really hasn't been an issue this year. We are so deep, and guys play such limited minutes because of it, that it is really difficult to get in serious foul trouble even if the refs are trying to screw you. And in most cases our backup can fill in with very little drop off. This team is as equipped as ever to keep up the good play with the defense and depth.
