"The Freshies" appreciation thread

I wanted to make a post for the WBB senior class. I grew hearing about the old stories of Roche, Joyce, Winters etc. It was always impressive when I would read about that few years span of dominance by the Gamecock men. This group of ladies has done the same and more, so in a sense they gave me an opportunity to get a glimpse of what that may have looked like.
122-8 overall record, a national title with a second if not for covid. They only lost 3 SEC games and only 1 home loss. What Dawn and the squad has accomplished is incredibly impressive and I don't know that we will see something like it here again.

The rumor mill says that Boston (and maybe more) will be returning next year. The rest of the wbb scene will hate hearing this.

There is no doubt in my mind that she couldnt make more money with the NIL than the WNBA

Starting rookie pay in the wnba is around $74,000. She makes more than that now with NIL (which are tied into her playing for us). She also wants her masters and staying here it would be paid for.

I was going to say goodluck to LSU on the main board, but holy hell they take every chance to blast Dawn Staley. Obviously some here disagree with canceling the BYU series and that is fine, but there is a lot of racism being shown in some of those threads for people who despise racism so much apparently.

I was bummed because I live 30 mins or so from BYU. We missed our only chance to see them play live. I haven't been to a live SC sports event since 2015, so it would have been a big deal for us.

Rumor is Boston was staying but Dawn is the one that pushed her to go Pro. Our team next year will still have inside strength but I actually believe our outside shooting will be better. Fulwiley is a beast.

Thats a good coach looking out for her players. Boston deserves all the best, her demeanor just reminds me of Marcus Lattimore.
Especially coming off a loss it would be easy for Dawn to want her to stay for Dawns own legacy, but she is letting her do her thing. I think of Dabo who hurt kids futures by getting them to stay and playing them through injuries

I expect next years team to fall back a little in the defense department but I expect our offense to increase quite a bit.

Honestly this year we missed a lockdown defender on point guards. I know Brea did a decent job, but we missed what Ty Harris did for us.
Hopefully one of these can play some lockdown D
I like Chloe Kitts but she looked so timid. She needs to play at 100%, not be afraid to make some mistakes

To be fair, she left high school early to join the team and has only seen garbage time minutes.

For sure, that wasnt a shot at her. It was just an observation. I think some expected her to come in and shoot lights out and contribute.
She will be a good player
