Tom Luginbill was on ESPNU yesterday stating the in state talent for next year's class and 2025 is the best in back to back years in 2 decades.

Does that mean Mizzou will get 2 more 5* in-State recruits for the 2025 recruiting class? Mizzou should get some 4* in-State recruits as well for the 2025 recruiting class.

2025 looks like more of a regression to the means based on the early rankings

247sports 2025 MO HS recruit rankings LINK

Am I missing something? No 5*s and only a handful of 4*s (this # will probably go up). Seems like a pretty normal year, or even slightly down by recent standards. I hope we’re after that 4* OT from Battle HS, would be tough to let that type of local talent get away

If I’m Drink and we land Wingo - I’m back in the ears of the top in state kids who aren’t signed to MU. They have a chance to be part of some major program building here.

More places reporting rumors h
That Wingo will move up his commitment day. I think this favors Mizzou so he can get that payday early.

Wingo himself said he could move it up. Madison has been recruiting him hard. I believe in state athletes can start earning as soon as 9/1 if they sign a financial agreement with an in state school?

Gov. Parsons signed the law today and it goes into effect on 8/28.

quote:

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) - In less than two weeks, high school players in Missouri can start cashing in on endorsement deals, but only if they sign a letter of intent to play for a college in the Show-Me state. Missouri Governor Mike Parson is changing the landscape of college athletics with one swipe of the pen. Surrounded by University of Missouri athletes, Parson gave the green light to alter the state’s Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) law. It’s now one of the least restrictive NIL laws in the country, governing how college athletes can get endorsements. Lawmakers hope the new law will act as an incentive for athletes to remain in the state. The law goes into effect on Aug. 28.

Unranked DE Jaylen Brown from Alabama commits. Also had offers from Maryland, Houston, and some G5s

Already 6’6 and 235. That’s definitely a developmental guy that could end up being solid to really good. Can’t teach size.

Yet no other power of 5 schools is after him. Only Maryland and they are not a top or even a mid-power of 5 football program.

He’s has good size. Add some muscle and weight he could develop into a good DE. 247 doesn’t have a composite score, but they gave him a player rating of 86. That’s the same as Hafer, Rodriguez, and Glover. It’s higher than Hancock, James, and Bodford. Bodford’s is a 82.

South Carolina just had him on campus for an unofficial. does that make you calm down a little bit. Yall love trusting this staff when they land a big time recruit, but if they offer a guy who isnt a blue chip yall question why they offered him. I think they know what they are looking at. The staff could of straight up told the kid, "look, we want you but you wont see the field for 2 years until you develop". But those conversations arnt made public. Im guessing, it went along those lines just due to pure size and athleticism.

Because he looked like "hell" because he's 6'6". Coordinating that much size from a 3 point stance is not easy. But look at his last HUDL film. He's developing a good first step. He reminds me of Darius Robinson. I think Darius is 6'5".

I like to remember that Charles Harris was on no one’s radar and had no stars (I believe they just tossed a 2 or 3 on him after he signed) until like signing day. Mizzou offered him pretty much last minute and he signed and became a stud after developing.

I am just kidding! I trust the DC for his choice. Why would a good DC that is good at evaluating DB, CB, LB, DE would be picking an unrated player? I am guessing he is seeing something that others aren't and like you said he might have told him that he would need time to get ready to be the player he is expecting he can be a good one for Mizzou.

Jaylen Brown

His high school coaches quote
quote:

"He is has great length, huge wingspan. Runs extremely well. Great explosion. Incredibly flexible, Great hip mobility. He is 6-foot-6 legit. Works extremely hard. Great culture guy for any position room. May play this game for a long time the way he is developing."

Rivals breakdown
quote:

- Late Bloomer: Brown generated some intrigue during the summer with his camp performances at various locations. However, Maryland was the only power five program to jump in with an offer back in June. Missouri got him on campus in late July, where the three-star impressed the staff during camp, earning an offer from the Tigers which proved to be a difference-maker.

- Power to the Peoples: Before hitting Mizzou's campus in July, Tigers' defensive line/edge coach Kevin Peoples had been expressing plenty of interest in Brown and had been communicating with his high school coaches for a couple of months.

Couple guys from the recruiting board said
quote:

Don’t know much about him but that’s a good high school program. They have a history of producing good linemen.

quote:

His coach is legit so at least he's being coached up.

A new commit.

Missouri has landed its third defensive end in three weeks in the 2024 recruiting class. Hudson (FL) three-star Elias Williams chose the Tigers on Friday night over Indiana, Kansas and UCF.
