He was merely a point of reference about the difficulties of recruiting HS, Portal, and retaining players. Hugh said you can’t do all three under current conditions well. Hence Kiffin doesn’t do well at HS because his focus is on retaining and portal, Hugh, in his own words, focuses on building the program with HS recruiting and filling gaps with portal but also focuses on retaining more.
