Schuman isn’t leaving Georgia

So this was supposed to be confirmed “soon” on Monday and now it’s Friday. Has it become a “fluid situation”?

That's what I've been thinking/hoping ever since Boz said he'd heard UA compliance had cleared Pruitt. Bama would keep it quiet until the NCAA answers UT's response (Nov 24) to their NOA (Jan 24 deadline).

Where are you and what is the latest from your sources?

He isn’t loyal to UGA. He’s a Bama alumn as is his wife and I believe his dad played for Bama. If he gets more money here and gets to shed the goofy co title he will absolutely come. Fact is, it appears Saban is willing to wait on Pruitt. We will see if that pays off or backfires.

But is he loyal to Kirby? Kirby is the one who has invested in his career the most.

This dude has no sources and was pulling stuff out of his arse. Now he’s vanished conveniently.

Schuman and Kirby are very close. He knows what it's like to work for Saban, Saban is demanding of his coaches, and it's not like Schuman is working for some rinky dink team, he's working for the best team in America presently

I said something similar as in he could just as easily become a HC at Uga as Bama. Uga has a much easier schedule with one or two big games then sec championship and then playoffs. It's almost guaranteed for them

Some guy out on Twitter said that two radio hosts I think out of Mobile (99.5 maybe? ) said he turned the job down… not sure how reliable that is

With a team like Alabama, there really is no motivation to play a hard OOC schedule anymore. The GOAL is to get in the playoffs to win the NC. So playing a hard OOC team is only risking getting a loss or injury with little reward. Bottom-line, Alabama wins their games and they are in the playoff. Don't do the committees job for them by playing a team with little reward from it. Look at Georgia, they have a seat waiting for them in the playoffs next year. People can bitch about their schedule all you want, but they are 2 wins from a NC.

I’ve been telling my buddies this same thing. If TCU can play that awful schedule take a loss in the championship game and still make it we just need to play sisters of the poor schools ooc from now on. The sec west is hard enough on its own.

Do we really want Schuman? Does he really call the plays or is it Muschamp? He might be in over his head as the only DC that’s why Kirby has Muschamp with him. Just speculating, don’t know much about the guy.

Wrong. Within the 12-team CFP, strength of schedule affects the teams' ranking/seeding. The top-4 seeds get quarter-final byes and the semi-finals at their home stadiums. So, it's smarter to schedule decent OOC opponents who have winning records to beef up your strength of schedule.

We need do away with cupcake games and do away with conference championships. Shorten the regular schedule and expand the playoffs. DIV II is already doing it this way. These conference championship is nothing but a money grab. They stand more to hurt the teams they represent than help.

So you are worried about seeding? Who cares, just get in and then win your games. Look at TCU, they got 'in' and went to the NC. A 'seeding' spot is still not worth playing a hard OOC schedule.

Kirby is more demanding than Saban lately.

Truth is, this season proved it pays to play weaker schedules. Shame on the committee. Bama was clearly a top 4 team and the natty was an embarrassment because the committee didn’t do their dang jobs. Lowest viewed natty in 20 years. Great job playoff committee.

quote:Wrong again. It's stupid to schedule shitty OOC cupcakes like New Mexico State, Mercer and Austin Peay. It's much smarter to schedule decent G5 teams like Memphis & Fresno State who typically win against weaker G5 opponents but can't beat Bama at BDS. In the 12-team CFP, seeding matters A LOT.
