He's exceeded all expectations in his first year, capped off with this first full recruiting class. I give him an A, would have been A+ with win over woeful Aggies.
1. Closed the deal on four freshmen named to various All-American freshmen teams (Perkins, Campbell, Jones, Taylor);
2. Won games against two Top 10 teams;
3. Knocked Alabama out of the playoffs;
4. Won 9 games (with one to go);
5. Won the SEC West;
6. Delivered a top 5-6 recruiting class on early signing day this year.
Can't wait to see what he does over the next couple of years.

A
You can't get A+ with three losses.
But a solid A.

He beat Bama. I don't see a second one.
Grade would be. A lot better with wins over FSU and Texas A&M.
But road games are hard. I get it.
B+ first season

Have to give him an A-.
Specifically for never doing anything about the special teams issues that cost you at least 1 game and set the tone in two other losses.
I’ve said from the minute he was hired that he was a great coach and stand by that.

A-
Would be A if not for the A&M debacle…. 10 wins would get it back there tho.

For a year 1?
88 out of 100. B+
Can't lose to the deflated tamu without losing some serious points, and with 4 losses i'd knock off 2 points to be sure he came in under an A.
Way better than I expected tbh.

B
You don't get arse raped by an A&M team with a losing record when a possible playoff spot is on the line and get an A.

When you take a team that lost 5 to 7 games each of the previous two seasons and then win the west, you should get an A. But looking closer, can you give an A to a 4 or 5 loss team? I would say solid B.

Brian Kelly is a top 5 national coach, but rarely if ever has a fan base had such a huge crush and levels of adoration for a first year coach. Can be creepy.

Obviously an A

I think a solid B.
Nice start to his reign considering the expectations. Beating this year’s Alabama team wasn’t that big a deal tbh. I mean Tennessee did and Texas and Texas A&M should have.
The thing is, talent is everywhere. Good coaching is everywhere. He ain’t any better than Saban or Kirby in the long run. A year here and there, he may make a good call. In others, he’ll flop like a fish.
So, what will gives a team the edge in the long run? Normally it comes down to just team chemistry, a bit of luck, the right schedule, the right run of non-injuries, the right non-calls, and the least turnovers.
