Drink should be fined

Every time he calls a pass play that is designed for Brady to throw from between the tackles, drink should be fined at least $5k.
Why did drink go away from what worked ok vs USC? Is young hurt again? Did he not know Taj can't catch? Does he not realize almost every pass completed behind the LoS was a loss?
After such a solid showing a week ago, it was depressing watching drink immediately go back to what he was doing most of the game.
Props for no turnovers and keeping peat on the bench though.

SC and UK play completely different types of defense. SC plays a 4-2-5 with dogs. That type of defense can leave good slot WR’s open if they are not fast/athletic enough to cover them. That is why are slot WR’s had 176 yards of Cook’s 224 yards passing.
SC has the perfect defense for Cook to play against. Short passes and wide open slot receivers he can hit. When SC gets better athlete’s it will be a good defense. It is usually hard to run against and in passing downs the dogs will be able to cover the slot.

You do what you can do until the other team stops you.
Notice the second half went better when he went more to the usc strategy. So apparently your guess is wrong as to it wouldn't work.

Lovetts big plays against SC were well designed plays.
His catch on the left side, he crossed with the outside receiver making the DBs switch assignments. That moment of hesitation was all Lovett needed as he created separation.
His catch on the right was a perfect and I mean perfect pick play. It was no contact and the picking WR never broke stride or even acknowledged he was running in front of the defender. That slight interference again was all Lovett needed to create separation.
What this means us they do indeed practice actual routes. But in games it seems Drink doesn't think they can execute. At 1 point 3 receivers ran straight down the field side by side just different depths. It's weird and confusing.

That is why the need to hire an OC next season.
