Most of them think Brandon Miller got an SOS call, went and stole a gun, loaded it, drove 120 mph to a pending shootout, slid his car in sideways to block the path of men, women and children, before jumping out with an AK-47 and handing it to a hoarde of yet unidentified Bama basketball players, while screaming "kill all them bitches!" which those players did deign to do.

I saw a post where one of them thinks the Biden DOJ might step in and do something about BM.

Can we also just marvel for a minute on what a great feel Oats has for his offense and how to counter defensive strategies against it? Maryland had a great strategy to switch everything, keep themselves in front of us, take away the 3 pt line and make us make shots at the rim with a body on us. But.......the only way they could do that was with a bunch of 6-4 to 6-6 guys who were long but were not super quick. So how does Oats adjust? Basically runs 4 out with Bediako running interference or 5 out when Bediako isn't in the game. Floor opens up, we get more shots at the rim and more open looks outside and we draw more fouls.
The only two things that I shake my head about Oats' coaching approach are his baseline inbound pass mentality, and how he handles players in foul trouble. Hell!.. and I'm a picky MFer!

It is kind of remarkable how such an offensive mastermind can’t figure out how to easily get the ball inbounds

Saban was at a basketball game after all the stuff went down. I don’t think he meant to phrase it in a way that invoked Oats.

Oats shouldn't have worded it like that from a PR standpoint, but Saban is also wrong. Speaking in those kind of absolutes is foolish. There is very much such a thing as being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Hell, there was a case in the news around here a few weeks ago where some dumb redneck cop suplexed this dude walking to work and gave him a skull fracture. Then he charged the dude with obstruction of law enforcement for I guess not breaking his own skull. Why? Because he matched a rough description of a suspected burglar in the area and Deputy Dipshit decided to crack skulls first and ask questions later. So yeah, that dude was very much in the wrong place at the wrong time and some bad shite happened to him.

Context matters in every situation. I don't think Tony Mitchell can say he was in the wrong place at the wrong time because he was clearly associating with some unsavory people and if you do that you don't get to act surprised if shite goes sideways. Miller was associating with his own teammates and got inadvertently roped into a fricked up situation. So yes he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. If he arrives 10 minutes sooner or later than he did he's never even tangentially involved.

It did seem that way. I love our coach. I believe he’s a good guy finding his way at an extremely high level and I’m here for it. He’s a damn fine leader. This team and staff is special. The way they’ve come together in adversity and locked in. Hat tip. I already respect them for what they’ve done and I’m excited to see things play out.

Well its not like Miller got caught dealing weed like Tony Mitchell did. As idiotic as Oats comments were, Miller didn't do anything wrong and should be playing.

Kind of wish Saban hadnt made these comments but hes still the GOAT.

Saban's "There's no such thing as being in the wrong place at the wrong time" statement was not only a very poor choice of words, it wasn't even needed.

I don't think Oats comments was idiotic shoot he was just being REAL honestly.

I kind a miss coaches being straight up but like ROBOT said...it could've been worded better but Coach Oats was speaking solely on Brandon Miller at the time and a lot of people blew it out of proportion.

I mean Oats got cooked nationally for that “wrong place wrong time” comment and apologized for saying it.

He didn't know the new information that had came out at the time though, he went straight from practice to the press conference, I dont think he wouldve said that otherwise.

Yep. Oats comments were just the truth about Miller but were blown up by people that don't understand subject/verb context. Saban's comment is a calculated, but overreaction to the ignorant response to Oats' comment.
