Not reading this entire thread but a few comments:
- Auburn is an excellent school in a quaint, safe southern town
-UGA is an excellent school in a less quaint, less safe southern town
-UGA is more difficult for metro Atlanta kids seeking admission. It wasn’t this way 30 years ago before Hope
-Hope doesn’t make attending in Georgia “free”. My own child, who had a good but not great academic profile was denied admission to UGA (SAT was too low for a metro kid, imo). He has the Zell Miller flavor of Hope and attends another State University. I know it isn’t free because it’s costing me approximately 7,000 a semester for the required housing and meal plan.
-arguing the difference between UGA and AU is silly, they are fairly close to mirror images at this point
-personally, I didn’t want my son to attend either school. Not a matter of academics in the measurable sense, I wanted him somewhere more focused on undergrad teaching and less on research. He gets attention from profs at his school I don’t think he’d get at either place
