Tuberville left Ole Miss due to Pete Boone being AD. Boone did not want to spend money at all. I don't blame Tuberville for leaving. This is not the same Ole Miss. Keith Carter is not Pete Boone and Kiffin is not Tuberville. He's already one of the highest paid coaches in the nation and is 4th highest in the SEC. Auburn is currently a dumpster fire.
What are the benefits of Auburn over Ole Miss for Kiffin? None.

Hugh did a lot of good things at ole miss and I will always appreciate him for that. But there are issues there. I think he’s good at running a program, not elite. He can be an elite recruiter but my understanding is that there’s some things out there that haven’t been made public that will kill him on the recruiting trail and at the end of his time he missed on a lot of guys and completely ignored key positions. I think he’s a below average coach on game day. He’s stubborn and makes some bad decisions. I saw someone say he won 65 percent of his games at ole miss and the next coach only like 45 percent. That’s true but make no mistake Hugh had a pretty big hand in creating the situation where the next coach couldn’t win. He left the program in shambles and that historically bad defense those years was because of his inability to recruit the defensive side of the ball. His punishment should not have been a show cause and being fired, he should have been forced to coach those teams and take those losses. Matt Luke was not a good coach but the program was left in shambles by Hugh. I think it would be a risky hire. If it pays off it pays off big but I think there’s more of a chance it ends in disaster.

You obviously only pay attention to recent history. I suggest you actually become a student of the game son. And yes only 1 NC in the last several decades. You can’t claim one when you were on fricking probation for cheating……Dear God are you really that desperate?
And since you are a fan of history let’s look at what exactly has happened to your recent coaches:
Harsin – was an up and coming coach. Now, 13 games later his career options are likely to be limited due mainly to booster meddling in his program.
Steele – only coached one game as interim coach but was considered for the HC job – now the DC at Miami.
Malzahn – booted out despite a .660 winning percentage. Now at UCF.
Chizik – survived four years and was booted despite winning a national championship and having a .635 winning percentage. Has not been a head coach since.
Tuberville – survived from 99 thru 08 and was booted despite having a .680 winning percentage and an undefeated season under his belt. Moved on to Texas Tech and Cincinnati afterwards but his coaching career never really recovered.
Oliver – coached 5 games in an interim position and then retired
Bowden – had a .731 winning percentage at Auburn but had to resign in the middle of the 1998 season. Went on to coach at North Alabama, Akron, and ULM afterwards.
Dye – had a .707 winning percentage at Auburn. The field is named after him. Was booted after the 1992 season and never coached again.
If I were a head coach with a bright career in front of me then there is no way I would add my name to this list.

Literally the only benefit to staying to staying at Ole Miss would be him already having gotten started there, and lower expectations. If he wants a higher ceiling at a school that’s actually capable of competing for a National championship then dumping Ole Miss for Auburn would be an easy choice. Assuming he would even get an offer from Auburn at all, that is, he’s only midway down our list

Does Alabama claim theirs when they were on probation for cheating?

1. Deion Sanders, Jackson State
- would be a publicity and recruiting home run. Auburn would instantly be back in the top 10 in recruiting. He is a name and a personality that can control the boosters and the money, and not the other way around
2. Dave Aranda, Baylor
- probably the best from an actual coaching standpoint and highest potential for building long term success
3. Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss
- would be a good solid hire that would immediately restore Auburn to recruiting relevancy, but the ceiling isn't as high as the top 2 and he's probably less likely to leave his current school as well.
4. Mark Stoops, Kentucky
- his resume at Kentucky on the field and on the recruiting trail speaks for itself. He learned at the feet of some GOATs Hayden Fry, Bill Snyder, and Big Bro Bob
5. Jeff Grimes, OC Baylor
- if there's one thing that having Jeff Grimes will guarantee, it's a top tier OL and a good running game. At the very least he's our Sam Pittman and takes us back to fundamental, well coached old school football
Maybe the Baylor OC takes the gig, but those other guys aren't taking the job. Why on earth would they?

Thank you so much for doing all that work to prove how much of a better job Auburn is than Ole Miss. All of those coaches except for Dye ranged from painfully mediocre to bumbling idiots and every single one of them still managed to stumble to much better winning percentages than Ole Miss has in your storied history
Imagine what a real coach could do with Auburn’s resources

Now Let's do Bama,,,, You could do any school and get similar results.
Ray Perkins (Great Record), fired... (1983-86)
Bill Curry (Last man picked in the NFL Draft), fired because he could not beat Auburn, went to UK. (1989)
Gene Stallings Won a Nattie, but got fired for NCAA troubles.(1996)
Mike Dubose (Affair with Secretary, OK, keep him), lose to Auburn, fired after 4 years even after being SEC coach of the year in 1999. (2000)
Dennis Francionne (.680) Made it two years (2002)
Mike Price (Never Coached) It was his Destiny (2003)
Mike Shula (Great Man, should have been retained)(2006)
Joe Kines (1 game) should have been the permanent Coach. (2006)
You finally got a winner in Saban, lots of schools go through lots of coaches. Probable retire in 2031 after 25 years.

I don’t know because I have never gotten into a debate with a Bama fan if the said “our program is better”…..Want to know why? Because they are…..Auburn is not. You are talking about firing your HC mid season after he has been there approximately 1 year…….what part of that says you are a relevant program?
