Probably Freeze backers put a cap on the Kiffin budget in hope. (not a big cap, but one where he would potentially say no).

One final thing on Lane. Although I wanted him, I can't get past he was flexed on by Leach. Like, Leach basically lost to top 10 teams only and we all act like Kiffin was head and shoulders better.

Ever actually checked into his personal life or what other teammates said about him, you might find he is very different from the image he has projected and made him millions off the field.
No P5 experience, he would have to rely on coordinators. And the problem is? Good managers always hire people to fill the gaps in their weaknesses.

When Kiffin looked like a possibility I mentioned that I liked Kiffin but had a realistic idea of what he could do. He can flip a roster quickly and get Auburn back on track quick. No clue if he can get to the next level. That would be the bet
I think Leach is also in about that same boat. He can get a team competitive quickly and he can win games but can he get to the next level?
The next level is what I wonder about most. It’s why I’ve got Freeze in the same boat as Kiffin. Not sure they’ve got that next level. I’d still see if they could, don’t get me wrong. But this is why these hiring processes are tough

Kiffin lost all of his leverage with the past couple of weeks, IMO. Arkansas I could stomach. But following it up with the Egg Bowl was bad.

Same with Freeze. Even if you can look over his stomach-churning off-field stupidity, those last three losses don't give me a warm fuzzy feeling about him.

Yep. Lane will find out pretty soon that he should’ve jumped when he had the chance, because he’ll be another Matt Campbell soon. You can only have success at a historical bottom feeder for so long.
