Yeah I think we all know that’s complete horse shite.

We’re getting Jeff grimes and we’re gonna have to like it.

This has been the most secretive coaching search for Auburn since the advent of the internet and I have a weird gut feeling that it’s going to be a big splash hire that’s not on anybody’s radar.

Preparing for Freeze so if we hire someone better it will be exciting. If not, I will already be prepared for the let down.

We all know auburns big name hires. It’s probably some equipment manager named bert from faulkner university.

Don’t knock Bert. He has won the last three NCAA 14 PS3 national championships and is known to be a hell of a recruiter in the digital world. Just the kind of dark horse hire we need to get back on top.

It does have the odor of poultry litter doesn’t it? Almost as quite as the Leath hire…

I’d be fine with Grimes…good long term option that would be a great fit; bad for immediate splash and rebuilding quickly.

Poker you have gone off the deep end. You were holding the line strong and kept me from pre melting the other day with your confidence in the hire. Now I’m concerned!!

Ole Miss people are saying it. But, as was said in this thread, it could be a team meeting about anything. It's probably not unusual to have team meetings after the regular season ends.

Newest JGT update: Kiffin is our version of Tennessee’s Gruden

quote:

Good morning, Bunker.

I hope you were satiated by your Thanksgiving feast.

Ole Miss lost again last night, its fourth loss in five games, and head coach Lane Kiffin was somber after the game. This is to be expected. He fielded a number of questions aimed at clarification of his (indirect) dalliance with Auburn. I'm not going to provide a full accounting off all the Qs and As here, but I'll summarize it this way:

Kiffin said nothing that leads me to believe the plan has changed. He was evasive and didn't actually commit to anything. He said he expects or plans to be the coach at Ole Miss next year, which is a nothing statement because he's contractually bound to Ole Miss. Kiffin has been very deft in the way he's avoided providing any incontrovertible statements of future employment at Ole Miss.

If he wanted to squelch this, he could have. He knows that.

So my feelings about this have not changed. I still expect Lane Kiffin to be the next coach at Auburn.

WITH THAT SAID: I mentioned in my previous update that I supposed it's possible Kiffin changes course. He has a right to do that. I don't know him at all, though I feel like I do after speaking about him for weeks now. People may behave in unpredictable ways when under pressure and he has final say on his own life, you know?

I just think Kiffin has his eyes on the prize — and Auburn offers him a lot of opportunity.

Thank you for reading and for subscribing to AuburnSports.com.

If it's Kiffin, I think he will be announced Sunday or Monday.

60% confidence he'll be the next head coach. 25% Hugh Freeze. 15% the Field.
