Dude does a few insurance commercails, wins a few games in a conference that is really bad, and some of our fans go full retard, and want him has our next coach. A guy with only a couple more years of college head coaching than I have, and I've never coached football in my life! Hell, UAB is head and shoulders above Jackson State, and you want that guy leading an SEC West program that plays Alabama and UGA every fricking year?

He has the it factor in spades. You’ll eventually catch on whippersnapper.

It’s not us you gotta worry about. Jimmy Rane wants freeze,

Not a fan of Freeze and it has nothing to do with his scandals. I just think he's overrated. He is basically a clone of Gus (he and Gus are best friends and run the same offense).

He had some good years at Ole Siss, but never won the SEC. Even during his good year, he lost to Brett Bielema 30-0 and lost to TCU in the bowl game 42-3. His last season (2016) he only won 3 games. Literally his only claim to fame is beating Bama twice. If he hadn't have done that, he wouldn't even be in the convo.

Lane Kiffin is doing about as well at Ole Miss, and he would make more sense to me.

sign me up. get him a good DC and that's a good combo. he knows how to recruit and understands NIL. this is something that is going to be pivotal in the coming years.

now i don't know if he would leave the sip to come here. he seems to like it and seems like a good fit.

i don't know man. i just feel like i'm going to be disappointed with whoever we choose because i have this inevitable feeling it's going to be someone like steele

I co-sign with Freep and Corch there.

I'm not going to sky-scream if Freeze is hired, but he does have a screw loose. Here is an article from two months ago, where Freeze's text messages got him in trouble at Liberty.

And Deion has health problems. Here's an article from the Spring of this year, where Deion had toes amputated. These problems aren't insignificant.

I shake my head and you guys who talk about how "bad" Auburn's reputation is. The Bama media machine is in your head. We have a good reputation and we are a great landing spot for someone that has the ability and desire to win a championship. Pearl could go anywhere he wants, but he's at Auburn because we are awesome. Smoke that.

Although Gus and Freeze run similar offenses, here's where they diverge. Gus had a lot more talent than Freeze. His last year, while very bad, was riddled with controversy that clearly affected the team. Throw that "never won the SEC" shite out the window. Did Tuberville win the SEC while at Ole Miss? Orgeron? Nutt? Cuttcliff? Freeze is at freaking Liberty now, while Gus is at UCF. Who is having better success at their job after leaving the SEC?

Yes, I would rather have Kiffin too, but we don't have a snowball's chance in Hell of getting him. If Ole Miss stays on the same trajectory, he'll be the hottest name in football. He knows this, and more importantly, so does his agent.

I do my own thinking. If you are a kid who is highly recruited, do you pick Auburn with all the uncertainty, AD resigns weeks before the season starts, and 3 HCs in 3 years, one of the worst Olines in football, or another school who has their shite together? If you don't things are as bad as they have EVER been, you need to take off those orange and blue glasses.

In 2020, Freeze had his best season at Liberty going 12-1, with his biggest win either being an OT win over a ranked Coastal Carolina in the bowl game (their only ranked win of the year), or a 3 point win over a 5-6 VA Tech in Blacksburg.

Other than that, 8-5 the other two full seasons he's played.

Gus went 9-4 last year, with his biggest win being most likely being the Gasparilla Bowl win over Florida which had no head coach at the time.

Take away the covid year, which was weird and strange, it's basically the "corporate wants you to find the difference between these two pictures" meme.

My guy, or who do I think is realistic?

We aren't getting a big name guy who is currently coaching. That was apparent when we hired Harsin. Instead of acting like a teenager making a list of exotic cars you want mommy and daddy to buy you, you'd better start making a list of one you could realistically get.

Clark, Freeze, Muschamp, and Scott Frost are the one's people have heard of, that we could probably get and have been head coaches. Then you get down to the coordinators. Lashlee, Steele, and some others that just don't come to mind. After that, you are scouring MAC, Mountain West, and lower tier ACC and Big 10. Pick your poison. All have downsides, but that's where we are at.

Go ahead and punt. You are lobbing more air balls than TJ.

Coming from someone who gargles Nix's, I'll admit you have more knowledge of ball handling.

If I had to pick, Bill Clark would be it......if he's healthy enough. Proven winner. Damn good coach.Ties to the area. Players love him.

Everyone else carries a lot of baggage, or carries too many unknowns.

This. Kiffen seems like the best candidate. Get the guy a good defensive coordinator. He's come a long way and been humbled. Splash hire. Proven recruiter in the southeast. Knows how to use the transfer portal. Would probably even bring some players.

Freeze - part of me thinks it would work. He can actually direct booster funds to players now. Getting a known name that has had some troubles has worked for us in the past but not sure if that would cause some opposition to him.

Aranda/Grimes - I don't think we could get Aranda. I'm actually coming around to Grimes as I think about it. Grimes feels like less of a "splash" but I think he's someone that wouldn't go up in flames and wouldn't embarrass the school.

Deion - Would be able to recruit for sure. Would need to surround himself with a great staff. I'm not sure how he'd smooth things over with boosters as he's a "say whatever he's thinking" kind of guy.

Bill Clark - On paper makes sense but if he retired from UAB with health issues I'm not sure how Auburn could possibly work.

Mark Stoops - Good luck getting him but I'd be happy with him.

What "great staff" is going to come work for a guy who has only been at the college level for less than two years? Also, keep in mind, when I say "college-level" we are talking the SWAC.

Harsin was somewhat successful before coming to Auburn. Best he could get was Bobo (failure) and Mason (brought a girl out to kickoff at Vandy)
