I hope he gets an offer but other names are being mentioned too. Derek Mason for one.

I’m all for hiring a Lebby but we need to administer advanced personality tests to any offensive candidates going forward. Any signs of indecisiveness or second thoughts definitely cut bait.

I'm going to flood their Athletic Department with letters of recommendation for Harsin

Agree. We need a more rigorous screening process

Usually these deals include us paying the shortfall he would make by taking the job. Arizona State could lowball him and we will be stuck with the difference.
Still, to your point far better off than the entire nut.

Some as former players, some as former parents, administrators, Idaho senator, whatever it takes

Not if he leaves us to take that job

We could negotiate the buyout to Arizona State owes us no buyout cash to pave his way out of town

Of all people, I wouldn't expect you to call folks out after you aimlessly throated Malzahn for years.

Can we work out a deal where he goes to ASU and leaves early so we can start finding a coach?

Passthebiscuits on the AUFam
Boards is claiming Greene went rogue and dumped Cristobal…that we had a deal worked out.

Convenient this is just now being mentioned. Sure, whatever.
I’m of the opinion we should hire Kiffin or Aranda. I doubt we will get either of them. But I would be happy with either. All these other names are just gambles and what-ifs. We need someone with head coach experience at big programs, not just coordinators with some upside.

Why?
Look at some of the most successful coaches in CFB today: Dabo, Kirby, Lincoln, and Day.
They all got hired at big programs as coordinators/position coaches with zero HC experience.
More often than not, I feel like the "big splash hire that wins the press conference" usually falls flat, Saban notwithstanding.

Now that’s hilarious. I’d cry if I knew that was true.

Dabo was at Clemson for 5-6 years before taking over so he had familiarity with the program. He really earned it. Kirby spent 9 years as an understudy to the greatest college football coach of all time before starting at Georgia. Riley and Day are a bit of a mixed bag prior to starting their HC roles. I guess I would rather go with someone who has proven they can handle HC a top program than gamble on someone who has had a hot year or two as an assistant. I’m not opposed to an up and coming guy but if given the choice I’ll take experience and success over potential success.
Now can we actually get someone who fits that bill? Prob not at this point.
