It was much more than peak saban.
Well sure, but it sure made some great coaches look pedestrian in comparison.

Facts don’t lead to bad karma.
Facts are that Richt averaged 9.73 wins versus 3.4 losses per year, for 15 years. If you get as good for as long with Smart, you’ll be doing pretty damn well. Fact is, coaches like Richt build the culture and pave the way for coaches like Smart. Take it from someone that has never seen a coach like that in 52 years of fandom.

LSU fans are still reeling from their fall from relevancy. Striking out at their betters is all they have left.

Georgia has been blessed with great coaches and Ark got one of our best. The Pitboss will do good things for the Hogs

Well you know Bama wont win the Natty in 2022.
Saban has won 7 national titles.
Saban has won zero national titles with a black QB.

Uga finished top 25 in both polls 5 times from 2006-2015. Richt lost to vandy in 2006. Last year was Kirby’s 2006.

Definitely not Riley. Look at his progression at OU when he was handed the keys to a strong, Bob Stoops program:
Y1: Played competitive playoff game vs GA
Y2: Blown out in playoff game vs LSU
Y3: Win conference, didn't make playoff
Y4: Didn't win conference
End: Bailed in the middle of the night because scared of move to SEC
I wouldn't put Riley in the top 25 coaches

Why is Kelly harder to make a case for?
1. Saban
2. Dabo/Smart
3. Kelly/Pittman/Day

I’m not saying Smart isn’t a great coach. I’m saying Richt won at a 74% rate over 15 years. Smart is at an 82% win rate over 6 years. Kirby obviously has the stuff to win at the highest levels, but he’ll have to continue that for another decade without much of a drop off for the next decade to stay ahead of Richt’s win percentage. Smart will always have the championships over Richt, but if you’re honest, you recognize it’s happening during Sagan’s decline, not in his heyday.

Smart is a great recruiter but I would not put him in top 10 of game management coaches.

He has a national title and a conference title (national runner-up) in separate seasons. This board has the shittiest takes when it comes to Kirby Smart.

This is a dumb take from someone who doesn't know what he's talking about. Our program was a mess and spinning its wheels in Richt's last few seasons. His last season was the emptiest 10 win season of all time. We finished unranked and Georgia Southern took us to overtime that year. We also were consistently finishing towards the middle of the pack in the SEC in recruiting. Smart came in and overhauled that completely.

Apart from his first year, UGA has finished 2, 7, 4, 7, 1, nationally. There’s no fathomable way you can say these aren’t - at the minimum - “good” seasons. Over 98% of CFB fan bases would kill to have this success.

It’s clearly Dabo. He’s got multiple national titles, multiple conference titles, multiple title game appearances. I don’t even know why people would debate this. It’s common knowledge.

Until kirby wins another it's 1.saban, 2.dabo and smart has a great argument for 3.
I say this as a lifelong uga fan.

Georgia's worst seasons in the last 5 were: 8-2 in an all SEC schedule in 2020, and 11-3 in 2018. I sure could go for some bad seasons like that...

Dabo is equivalent to Jimbo or Gus. Average coach who had generational QBs for their respective programs. Except Dabo had two. When he can win a championship with a Greg McElroy, Stetson Bennett type QB at the helm, I will put him on par with Saban and Smart.
