Let's not put a recruit as a starter before they even go through a fall practice.
Why do people actually disagree with this? This guy’s right and it’s actually a very reasonable thought. People put some insane expectations on some of these guys before they even take a snap

I'm perfectly happy getting Riley. He's a hometown kid with pretty good talent. Definitely a good addition to an already deep RB room... and hopefully it stays that way.
I'm hearing smoke that Baugh goes to UF. And if we do land Riley, I'm questioning if we would take Hill even if he wanted to commit. We have to be running out of spots...

Tua didn’t.
Bryce didn’t.
Putting a TF on the field against a schedule like we have next year isn’t a fair expectation or likely to result in a good outcome for anyone involved.
Everyone needs time to learn, put on weight and develop before they are ready to win championships at QB.
Tua could have, we just didn't need him to until later in the season but he could absolutely have started day one as a freshman. Hurts was SEC offensive player of the year as a true freshman. Trevor Lawrence won a Natty as a true freshman and should have been starting day one over Kelly Bryant. Georgia made it to the natty with Fromm as a true freshman.
There have been plenty of true freshman to start at quarterback and be very successful. There are lots of examples. I'm very happy that Jalen is coming back and Sayin will have a year to develop and get a lot of backup reps. However that doens't change my opinion that he's good enough to start immediately and would beat out Ty and Lonergan.

Tua turned the ball over like crazy early on in practice from what I’ve heard as he needed to adjust to the speed and complex looks he was seeing. He probably should’ve had the job earlier but he wasn’t ready day one from everything I’ve heard.
Jalen Hurts was running a HS level RPO and was only on the field because the options ahead of him all imploded. Go watch film from his freshman year and tell me he was a high level QB against teams with championship level defenses. It’s a testament to him that he helped us find ways to win even though he was a developmental guy, but it wasn’t exactly an ideal situation for anyone.
Each of the other guys you listed were in the same situation Hurts was in where they were thrown to the wolves because the other guys sucked.
Given the competition we now face in conference every year I don’t think we should ever aspire to start a TF, it’s an indictment of the previous QB evals & development we’ve done and almost guaranteed to cost us 1-2 games that season.

The problem here is that you are using the wrong senses .

Hearing buzz and seeing smoke... better?

Hill didn't do much in the all star game. Let him go to miss state

Why are you responding to me as if I'm advocating to start Sayin next season? I clearly said I'm glad Milroe is back and Sayin has time to polish his game and prepare for the college level. But I also think Sayin is good enough to start. Doesn't mean I want him thrown into the fire, just that I think he could handle it.
Tua may have had some turnover problems if he had started from day one but I would argue we'd have gone undefeated that season with him over Hurts. We didn't play a team that was any good until LSU. Yeah FSU was ranked #3 preseason but they turned out not to be very good especially after their QB went down. I don't think he would have cost us any of those early games and he'd have been closer to playoff Tua sooner getting all the practice and game reps as the starter.

If Jalen wasn't coming back I'd pencil in Sayin as the day one starter.
Just for clarities sake my responses have all been in relation to that post.
If we start Sayin against UGA I think we probably lose.
If we start Simpson (probably only stays if Milroe goes) against UGA I think we probably win.
I think we agree on 95% of everything else that’s been said.
Setting QB aside which is almost certainly going to be Milroe we should be very good offensively:
OL: outside of RT (Pritchett?) and C (?) we should elite
WR: we have to replace Burton, figure we plug in Hale and hope Benson steps up to complement Bond. Should be good but not really special by our standards
TE: Niblack and Dippre should be outstanding
RB: Miller/Haynes/Young, not worried

Let's go!
He seems like the kind of guy that can be a DE on 1st & 2nd down, and then rotate inside to provide the interior pass rush we've been missing on 3rd down!

Aeryn Hampton, ATH, Daingerfield (Texas) High
There was some chatter Monday night that the East Texas 4-star athlete could be thinking about Alabama once again. According to a pair of sources Tuesday morning, the Longhorns feel good about where they sit. And just so there isn’t any misconception out there – Texas very much wants Hampton in the class.

Roll Pod, Ep. 34 - Recruiting Podcast. They talk about Riley's CB to UA, and how several think UF leads for Baugh (maybe because of Riley).
