And it still won’t be over.

That’s what it looks like at this time. NIL largely in play. A lot of the powerful big name schools are selecting a small number of big time players to save the big NIL deals for; the best example I’ve seen this year is with Ohio State loading up for KJ Bolden, the #1 safety in the country, out of Georgia. And they lead for him right now. Without NIL, that would be a Georgia/Alabama battle any other normal year pre NIL. Along with Riddick, Auburn is making another large NIL deal offer to Perry Thompson, the 5 star wr out of Foley. From the movement I see, Auburn will likely get at verbal commitment from at least one of them. I would say Riddick is close to a done deal and Thompson is definitely listening to what Auburn has to offer. Now holding onto the commitment to signing day I feel will be a different story. The Saraland wr looking at reclassification to this year’s class may be due to some of these possible happenings, but I am only speculating on that part.

Why can't Bama match the offers Ohio st and Auburn are making?
It shouldn't be an issue

There are, in my guestimation, other related factors at play, such as a depth chart that shows a clear path to immediate playing time. That would in turn offer the potential for being drafted well due to the experience on being a 3 year starter in the SEC. Yes BAMA should, I think, be able to crunch numbers, also. One angle however, being used is that Alabama has not had a middle linebacker drafted highly in some time. The problem is these 2 players, especially Riddick, are really listening to the new Aub coaching staff.

I would wonder if Alabama just isn’t waiting to see what number they need to be at. Don’t overpay or guess underpay and shoot themselves. Avoid the bidding war and just come in when they have to with the number they need to be at. That’s what any good sales person should do.

Probably the same thing it does in the NFL.

I think the better question is - what if he is a 'miss?' Can you imagine burning a large portion of your NIL money on one guy who fails to produce or is injury prone?

OSU has done well over the years grabbing a top player here and there out of the south. Urban helped with his connections and why we got beat out for Bell and McMillin back to back years with both being the top players in their class.
I am sure NIL helps but if UA wanted them bad enough I believe the resources are there to get them.

Barn favorite recruiting pitch is “we will build our offense/defense around you, start as a freshman, or Saban will never be there to see you enter the NFL or graduate”. Saban has always used the pitch of “this is how you fit into our system”.
BAMA may be “slow playing” the NIL stuff since the NCAA is now trying to go back and claim that their rules will take precedent over any and all state laws. Just a guess there on NIL.

I dont think Saban is going to let these kids hold him hostage. I just dont see it.

The Georgia commit will announce his final decision between the Alabama, Auburn and the Bulldogs on Wednesday.
This quote from Chad Simmons on Riddick says everything about where recruiting is at right now. If you haven't made a final decision then you aren't really committed. Calling him a Georgia commit at this point is ridiculous.

Makes sense they did the same with the Carver duo last year

I know someone who supposedly knows Riddick's dad, and he said his dad was wearing a Bama cap when he talked to him, and said he son was going to the boogs. I guess we will see.

It sure seems to be trending that way. Hopefully DR has a change of heart and Rolls with the Tide.

My daughter has classes with Riddick, and my son was his teammate for a couple of years. I've been watching this kid since he was on jr varsity. He has told both my kids he is all bama just playing the field for more money. But it seems like the booger eaters may have got in his ear lately. But my daughter is still saying he is going to bama.

BOL thinks Riddick is leaning to Auburn.
