See the numbers in the link above. Your original post below quote:if true, and if it’s about the money, does this affect schools like OleMiss/Mississippi State, Iowa/Iowa State, Kansas/Kansas State…?
Just as I thought, you add nothing to substantiate your argument.
Of course it’s about money.
Ole Miss and State financially benefit from being in the SEC, not the other way around.
They are no more significant than Washington State without this benefit.
Again, please articulate why you believe them to be programs that would be included in tandem in a 40 team league.
Additionally, I’ll take a stab at the other 40 teams who would likely be in over a pair of Mississippi teams both being included-
Look at the 247 recruiting rankings, there are 40 teams listed in the top 50 that would likely be considered before Mississippi State and Ole Miss together are in the group.
Maybe individually one Mississippi school (Ole Miss) would be considered, but not both.

Nice speculation on something that will never happen.
As BLD noted, no SEC school has ever been dropped. Schools have left on their accord (I am sure two of them deeply regret the decision).
The SEC will be a major player going forward and none the original core teams are going be left behind.
State & Ole Miss are just as important to the conference as the other ORIGINAL 8 teams are. Period. Exclamation Point!
But I will give you credit for stating your opinion on a message board.

To pick just one or two, y’all are really clowning if you think Arizona or Colorado is somehow a better add than Mississippi State.

Baylor is 2-23-1 vs A&M in the last 26 meetings.

As I said before, I do not believe State or Ole Miss will be removed from the SEC.
I was asking BLD his reasons as to why he believed two teams from Mississippi would be included in a group of 40 if conferences were dissolved and P5 schools moved away from the NCAA.

I get so tired of hearing this bullshite from bama fans. You cocksuckers are already the best football program on earth and have been for close to 15 years now but god forbid your conference rent a win go away. How is it the best college football team in America gets the easiest cross division opponent? Makes no sense
Are you retarded, sir?

Cause your fellow poster listed 40 teams and 4-5 of them are a joke. Not much more to add. You willfully ignore the ranking of actual dollars coming in and collective assets, so there is not much reason to continue this debate.

Nope, I didn’t willfully ignore the ranking of dollars and collective assets (benefits of being in SEC) because the scenario I proposed would involve dissolution of all conferences and a selection of 40 teams.
But you’re right, you don’t have much to add so there is no reason to continue this debate.

Vandy is not our cross-division opponent, it’s UTk. Historically, UTk has been the second best SEC team.

What does that have to do with what I said?

I thought it predated the merger with the Big 8. Those 2 schools were in discussions to follow Arkansas to the SEC. Bullock & Richards railroaded that move. Then the Big 8 merger came with the concession that Tech & Baylor had to be part of the package.

Name the 40. I told you the programs I’d have us in over. It’s your turn.

Wazzou and Oregon St are screwed.
Cal, Kansas St, Wake Forest, and Pitt likely are.
Duke, TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech, Okie St, Kansas, Iowa St, West Virginia, Duke, Boston College, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Syracuse are all in some danger as well.

The one school I feel really bad for is Stanford.
Who knows what is true or not, but one rumor floating around is that Notre Dame wants Stanford invited to the Big 10 if Notre Dame joins. If so, Stanford may be higher on the Big 10 pecking order than Washington. They are great in ALL Sprts prominence and have Ivy League level academics. They have value. But who knows?

I did, last night.
Also, through all of this back and forth, you still haven’t provided an explanation as to why both Mississippi schools would be in the 40.
Again, all you do is reference their value ranking which is inflated by being an SEC member. The reason you won’t answer this is because you don’t have answer.
Now it’s your turn.
What value does Mississippi State bring that would benefit a new league more than the Colorado and Arizona schools which are attached to major media markets and in the case of Colorado and Arizona State historically are better programs.
Eagerly awaiting your response.

State would bring more money moving forward than all those programs

Nope
Not based on the market size, average attendance, all time wins, merchandising….
Mississippi State is near the bottom of the SEC by any standard and would be in any of the power 5 conferences.

Miss St is in big trouble - the SEC & ESPN will dump them. They already can't win in FB and it will only get more difficult as expansion continues. Ole Miss may hang on
