This is post additions
ACC is going to hard to crack with their new TV deal, but PAC 12 will splinter. We should disrupt their supply lines by taking CO and AZ. We are talking quality Weed and Women.
Edit - updated, sorry Missouri

Nice Missouri troll there...

I want to see the SEC add the Raleigh / Durham / Chapel Hill market.

I guess Mizzou gets left behind?
Add a North Carolina and Virginia school and it would almost look perfect.

This is not actually a bad idea. Add Arizona and Colorado, NC State and Virginia Tech.
Leaves a very attractive Kansas to go along with NC and Duke to the B1G though.

Better to try to hold out for North Carolina and Virginia schools than go for Colorado and Arizona. The Big 10 won't go for them first--they'll go for the Oregon and Washington schools first. Arizona and Colorado will be there for us if we want them.
I really don't want the league to expand again.
The PAC Network was a colossal failure. The crash-and-burn of Larry Scott's brainchild is the proximate cause of USC and UCLA leaving.

I get what you are saying, just worried about that ACC deal. They are locked in hard. Kansas for Arizona would be nice and all locked together

Better map as it shows actual school location vs showing whole state. Neb is on eastern edge of state

Nothing says "southeast" like "Jayhawks"

Maybe you can explain to me how these schools do not have enough money???
quote:
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Southeastern Conference announced on Thursday afternoon that it had brought in a total revenue of $777.8 million for the 2020-21 fiscal year.
The money, divided amongst the 14 universities that make up the SEC, averaged slightly over $54.6 million per institution. The amount issued to each individual school is roughly $9.1 million more per school than it was the previous fiscal year. The fiscal year ended on Aug. 31, 2021.
The sum of money does not include bowl revenue, which is retained by schools for bowl expenses.

The only logical southeastern states left are North Carolina and Virginia. We have nothing in common culturally with any states west of Texas and Oklahoma

The sorority girls of the AZ schools will be their secret gift.
They need to be down South.

We have nothing in common with South Florida culturally either, but some want Miami. And I can tell you from living in Virginia that VaTech is just like the SEC and UVA is nothing like the SEC.

Research triangle is amazing with almost a million people

Not to mention a super fast growing city of Charlotte that has plenty of grads

Raleigh metro is 1.5 million. Norfolk/VA Beach metro is 1.8 million. Norfolk/VAB has a lot of Tech and UVA fans.

While I know geography is barely a factor anymore, it still is a positive for a conference as a whole if there's some semblance of regional cohesion... even if that region is expansive. USC and UCLA look ridiculous being in the Big Ten.
As for the SEC... it's going to have Alabama, LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida, Auburn... there's just no one left in the country to add to compete with that football wise. Even if the Big Ten added ND, it's still a distant second in football and always will be.
But basketball is where the SEC can still really boost itself and still geographically make some sense.
Duke
North Carolina
Va Tech
Florida State
Not sure about Virginia. Not a good cultural fit, but neither is Duke... although UNC joining would probably force Duke to jump at the chance if offered. You get a top basketball school (post-Coach K?) that also boosts academics and gives Vandy a natural rival.
Or you can let woke Duke join Virginia in their fantasy Ivy League and go Va Tech, UNC, NC St, and FSU.
