If we go 1-7, LSU’s permanent rival has got to be A&M. Texas won’t choose A&M over OU. Arkansas would choose LSU over mizzou but that leaves mizzou without one. Ole Miss gets State. Florida gets UGA.
LSU-A&M
Texas-OU
Arkansas-Missouri
Kentucky-Carolina
Georgia-Florida
Vandy-Tennessee
Ole Miss-State
Bama-Auburn
Assuming this is what they go with, this means we stick with 8 conference games? How often does this put teams like Bama and Florida in BR?

Assuming that's the answer in the 1-7 format then you arguably just line up the big six and Texas/Oklahoma accordingly:
Alabama/Tennessee
Georgia/Auburn
LSU/Florida
Oklahoma/Texas
Ole Miss/Mississippi State
A&M/Arkansas
Missouri/Kentucky
South Carolina/Vanderbilt
This would be the answer because South Carolina and Kentucky shouldn’t really care who they play when their biggest rivals are OOC opponents anyways. Also, if Tex-OU goes away due to 1-7 then OU still has bedlam.

Ok so let’s say Arkansas LSU which I’m sure most LSU fans would be fine with.
What does that mean for Missouri? This 1-7 format doesn’t work. 9 conference games has to happen. The bottom feeders need to suck it up. Hell, get the NCAA to lower the bowl game requirement. You know that’s what this is about. They don’t want to play another SEC game because it might keep them from a bowl. They’d rather play Rice and get that easy W.

I am all for a nine or even ten conference game schedule.

Hell, 10 SEC games would be awesome. Give us 10 conference games. 1 P5 OOC and 1 G5.
The ones with instate rivals from other conferences still get to play. The others can schedule whoever they want. Everyone wins. Vandy and the other bottom feeders can kick rocks if they do not like it. Majority rules.

Major stamp of approval as season ticket holder.

10 games is a HELL NO for the 4 with in-state ACC opponents.
That gives the other 12 schools 2 slots to schedule anybody to our 1.

I keep seeing this , but think that TN v KY and SC v Vandy is more likely

Who knows
Keep in mind that Alabama and Tennessee have played a lot more than Alabama and Auburn.
And Auburn and Georgia have played 126 games in their series (much more than Georgia and Florida). TDSOR is only exceeded in number by the Minnesota vs Wisconsin series.
I don't like the 1-7 option but if the SEC goes that route then you'd think TDSOR would be at the top of the "must be preserved" games.

I'd like to see all of the major rivalry games preserved but I'm not sure online fan surveys (which have younger than average participants and confounding with recency) contradict the need to preserve the major rivalries with the deepest histories.

There your problem. Never belive anything you here on that show!

I dont know how they quantify that. But it looks about right.

You really think UGA would choose Auburn over UF?

I would have 20 years ago.
UGA vs Auburn was competitive through the 80s and 90s.
UGA vs UF wasnt competitive in the 90s.
But things changed. Auburn is basically an ACC school hanging out with their big brother's friends.

And Jax = $ for both schools every year
Posted on 6/7/22 at 7:57 pm to MetroAtlantaGatorFan
I love Jax (even in the 90s).
I just love competitive football more.
Since 2000, that has been against UF.

Y'all could win 20 straight and that would still be the one game that we have to play annually. Younger fans may pick FSU but anyone with half a brain knows UGA is rival #1.
