The AP can still put whoever they want as national champion now. The coaches aren't even obligated like they once were. So whatever you say sport.

Henry is one of 8 RBs/players all time to have a 2K yard season in the NFL. Ue also broke Walker's record on less carries. Any list without him is the opposite of recency-bias. It's Bo/Walker/Henry for the 3 best.

That is the key, if not for an injury in 2021 Henry is the only person in history to rush for 2 2K yard seasons, something that has only been done 8 times.

You are forgetting Jamal Lewis who played for UTk, he also rushed for 2k yards in the NFL. Jamal never rushed for anything close to 2k in college though. Walker had impressive stats in the USFL, but it is the USFL.

Because he couldn't win the starting job on his own team his first two years. But yeah. Greatest ever.

Are Alabama fans just not seeing "SEC" in the title? This is surreal.

That's odd, because I just looked at the all time rushing leaders in the NCAA and I see Herschel, but Henry appears a lot lower on that list.

I printed list after list of articles and polls showing Herschel being the top SEC back of all time and did not see Henry on any of the lists.....anywhere. I am still waiting for you Bammers to provide a list showing Henry at the top.

Anybody? Just one and Henry can enter the conversation.

Well, he is still #12 in the NFL in all purpose yards even though he played in the USFL for several years. Why do y'all keep forgetting that? I mean, had he played his entire career in the NFL he would have been MUCH higher on that list.
Pro Football Reference

I'm not saying he would have finished #1, but there is a good chance he would have finished in the top 5 all time.

Didn’t go through 21 pages to read who all was mentioned but Walker, Jackson, McFadden, Henry. What pages I did read i found it amazing nobody mentioned McFadden.

To not include Darren McFadden, Najee Harris, Kevin Faulk and Derrick Henry in the discussion is a bit off. There are so many great running backs in this league's history it can lead to some creative discussions.

For example, in the case of a guy like McFadden, he did not have the same overall cast on the offense that a lot of other guys had. He was certainly front and center and pulled them to the 2006 SEC West championship.

Both were mentioned. (McFadden not mentioned enough, imo...but Henry probably a little too much by Bama fans as they insist he is the absolute best. Great back....but not the best, imo) But most on here think Bo Jackson and Herschel Walker were at the top of the list. The others you mentioned were great backs, no doubt, though.

You are also right to say the SEC has had some absolutely phenomenal backs in it's history.

Putting Walker and Jackson on top is certainly logical but there are very logical arguments for others to be on top.

I saw them play and Bo Jackson > Herschel Walker.

I agree both had power and speed, but Bo was a special kind of athlete. I've never seen a running back literally run over an NFL defensive back as Bo did

It's all opinion. It is hard for me to imagine (personally) anybody else being at the top. I do realize being a Georgia fan makes my opinion a bit slanted, though.

If we wanted to take personal biases out of it, though, we would go to different articles/polls naming the greatest RB all time in the SEC, and I post 7-8 links earlier in the thread naming the top RBs in college football all time and Herschel Walker was tops in every one of them as far as SEC RBs are concerned. I did not see a single one with anybody else, although I am sure there are some out there.

Herschel started his freshman year on a team built for him what is his excuse

Herschel was a true freshman that didnt even play until the 2nd half of the tennessee game.

An offense built for Herschel (?) had a leading rusher for 589 yards in 1979 (6-5 team) that went on to a record of 33-3 behind Herschel. In 1983, the leading rusher had 519 yards.

The offense wasnt built for Herschel. Herschel built the offense.

If you dont understand something, it is best to remain silent.
