Is Saban’s mark going to be left on Alabama as it was at LSU?

LSU has been able to win titles with boneheaded coaches after Saban built the program.
Alabama was a powerhouse before Saban, but what Saban has done cannot be replicated. Will Bama be able to win a few titles here and there like LSU has been able to do after Saban?

As much as I hate to say it, probably.
The ripple effect Nick has on the culture of the entire athletic department isn't something that goes away quickly.
Y'all will shell out a ton of money just like everyone else to hire a big name coach after he is gone. If the next man up can recruit on the same level, y'all will more than likely be just as competitive.
Granted, we have a bigger in state talent pool than Alabama, and no real in-state rivals to recruit against. The fact we haven't won more than we have is almost embarrassing.

Personally I think Alabama will be just fine after Saban. He’s built that program too good for it to not atleast compete.
I think they will get another solid coach after saban and be able to win 8-9 games consistently. Maybe not win championships every other year but definitely compete.

Considering Alabama won more titles than any other SEC team before Saban, I suppose it's a pretty good bet.

The real question is how will Bama do after Paul Bryant Jr moves on?

Alabama was averaging 2 SEC Championships and 1 National Championship every 10 years before Saban.

I think Both have their own strengths that Saban leveraged.
Bama has a great history, but they aren’t the only game in town. If Auburn can get their act together post Saban that will hurt. Especially if Saban’s successor can’t recruit nationally like Saban does.
Saban recognized the advantages LSU has and was the first to really do a good job keeping local talent home and supplementing from neighboring states. That’s the model for LSU that even morons have been able to follow (when actually trying to do their job)
I think Bama benefited from not just his ability but his reputation more so than LSU did while he was here. I dont Think Bama will go away, but I also don’t think someone besides Saban can sustain this level of success just on Autopilot.

Just depends on the hire.
Miles was a great recruiter and ran a good program for awhile. I don't think you can really credit 2009-2013 or so to Saban.
Miles' problem was that he just refused to change the offense and that ultimately sank his ship.
I can't see how anything about LSU in 2018 or 2019 can be attributed to Saban, it was too far removed.
TL;DR Saban "built" the program at LSU but it was maintained and added to by others over time. I don't believe "ripples" extend past a 5 year window after the coach leaves.

Bama was amidst a serious "shite show" decline when RR declined and Saban swooped in.
We can all hope post-Saban Bama turns into a serious decline.

Hard to say, Bama fans also thought there would be no drop off after Bear and program will recruit itself.
Time will tell...

Averages make the picture appear a little more optimistic than it actually was.
Alabama won one national title in 30 years between Bryant and Saban and only 4 conference championships in that same period.

As long as the new coach doesn't change the process, he/she could do very little and win big for 5+ years.
I'm hoping Bama will hire someone like Kiffen or the Pirate who will come in and immediately do things their way.

I’m sure Alabana can find someone to come in and lose more CFP games than anyone else

While that is true, two big items caused that to happen.
1) Sanctions or rumor of sanctions from about 1998-2007, that hurt recruiting
2) (and this is the big one) BOT and President Thomas had the chance to hire Coach Bobby Bowden in the late 80's. If that happens I would assume that Alabama wins more championships

There was football at LSU and Alabama before Sabin and will be after.
NIL will have a bigger impact, than any coach.

Since the topic compares Alabama to LSU I would note that 1 national title in those years is much better than 0 national titles between the segregated 1950’s and Saban at LSU. Alabama also won more SEC titles than LSU did in those years.

I never claimed LSU was great before Saban.
Congratulations on being marginally better.
