LSU basketball will be better than you think next year.

I know we all love to pile on for fun - but they hired a good coach.
He won his conference in 5 of the 7 years he was there. His worst record was .500.
He knows basketball and he knows how to find talent.
If this was the SEC from 10 years ago, he would finish in the top 3-4. As it stands, he will likely finish just below the middle in the league.
I think they will be better than Georgia, Miss State, Ole Miss, USC, and Vandy.
Downvote all you want. Heck, you can even bookmark it.
But heed one warning: Willy T will probably use your negative comments about LSU in this thread against you in the future.

Doesn't matter how good of a coach he is. His 2 star players won't win many games in the SEC.

Yeah, this conference is a real powerhouse. Teams like Bama and LSU could never be picked off during the week by a lesser opponent. Vandy? Florida? Ole Miss? You don’t just walk into those arenas expecting to win.
Fact is, you had 4 teams that were pretty damn good, 3 of which were bounced earlier than their seeding in the Tourney. You had 3 teams that were dog shite, and seven more than were middle of the pack and could win or lose on any given night.
Next year’s LSU squad could win 1, or win 7 in the SEC, and neither would really surprise me.

LSU will win 0 games in league next season.

In the other thread you said LSU wouldn’t win any games all year unless they played a cupcake.
But we could make a ban bet out of SEC games if you’d like.

No tiger, the board is more fun with you then without you. Besides gambling is a sin by my religious convictions.

Guess you missed the 2 transfers who have experience and were 4 stars and t he 5 star incoming freshman he just got a commit from?
Not to mention just because they enter the portal they could also choose to stay, we have seen this in football. couple years of middle of the pack then he will turn LSU into a contender for SEC championships and tournament wins

People forget about how different times are in regards to turning over a roster these days. It’s not like when Brown left and Brady had to trawl the lower juco ranks to compose a team.

He went 31-3.
I think that LSU absolutely hired the right coach.
They might be right back at it in 2024. Sucks to lose 2 years for nothing, but LSU has a whole State to draw talent from.

That shouldn’t be that hard to do, considering what I’m thinking.

Get em while you can because he will win a lot of games at LSU

I don't think the Sig Eps or Phi Delts or whatever IFC team LSU asks to wear the purple and yellow will be able to compete with legit SEC basketball players.

Since LSU fired Will Wade, the Tigers have lost 11 players to the transfer portal, two players to the NBA draft and all four players committed in 2022 and 2023. They have zero scholarship players from this past season still on the roster.
Will LSU even field a team next year?

I agree and the most important part is COACHING
He will have a much better offense than WW ran a street ball pick offense.
If he gets KJ Williams that could be 3 starters from a 31-3 team, as they know how to play together and they know his system.
I played in a class B school and we had 4 white dudes and a black point guard. Our center was 6'2" and we were 5'11 and 6'1" (me) at forwards and 5'10" and 5'8" guards. We beat the snot out of A, AA, AAA and even played 4A and 5A teams who had 6'7, 6'5, 6'4", 6'2" and 5'10" starting lineups and we would hold our own and keep games to 5 points and sometimes win them.
What LSU could have as starters with experience in a system, with a proper, disciplined offense could look like:
Juice Hill 6'
Hannibal 6'2"
KJ Williams 6'10"
Kendal Coleman 6'8"
Fudge 6'8" (lets say he stays at LSU)
If that team plays well and runs the system they have been running, then LSU will beat a lot more teams than these doom and gloom ranters think.
WHat if LSU gets a 4th player from Murray in Burns at 6'7", then they could have almost their whole 31-3 team, with maybe the Belmont transfer, plus 3-4 LSU guys who might be back after checking out the portal. Sprinkle Cornelious Williams and a few more high school recruits, then we actually have a decent team considering the unknowns of sanctions.
Coaching! Sure, 4-5 star talent mostly prevails but a decent TEAM with good COACHING equalizes the outcome of games.

It's absolutely possible that LSU pieces together a decent roster next year that wins 16-18 games and maybe even makes the NCAA Tournament if things fall right (if they are eligible). It's not probable, but it's far from impossible.
Just look at what Otzelberger did at Iowa State this year. Heck, look at what Wade did at LSU his 1st year.
If LSU brings in 3 of the Murray guys, adds another high level transfer piece and then fills in around them with less athletic but solid basketball players from the lowest levels of D1 (just look at the portal there are tons of them from places like Hartford, Alabama A&M, etc), they could be a solid team. Depth will be an issue and they'll get outclassed some nights, but they won't be a dumpster fire.
