It's certainly an unfair advantage for UGA when they make the game.

No. No, it isn’t.

No it doesn't. Not at all. I've lived here nearly 30 years and I'm perfectly happy. There are challenges, sure, but it's way better than most large cities in the US. If large cities aren't your thing...stay away. We'll be fine without you.

SIAP-

As soon as the SEC pulls out of contract with MBS in ATL, the ACC will snatch it for a 20 yr contract and you'll never see another SEC CG in ATL again.

I think those who are bitching would be completely okay with that.

Houston isn't a bad location and might get some sniffs after we add in Oklahoma and Texas.

The big thing is... Atlanta is fairly centrally located and has a nice "neutral" site stadium. Right now neutral site stadiums in our footprint (leaving aside NFL stadiums in Florida) that are fairly nice is limited to Atlanta, New Orleans, and Houston.

Memphis, for example, is a huge SEC town... with a craptacular stadium. Nobody is pushing to move the games there.

Well...do you think they will be after the current contract expires?

Houston would be a much better site for the SECCG. I wish there was some way the league could get out of Atlanta for the 2023 game.

if it sells out every year, then there is no reason to change it.

My wife went to undergrad in the Irving/Las Colinas area. It really does blow chunks. It's all chain restaurants and depressing strip malls.

Yeah, I'm certainly not arguing for rotation of the game site because Atlanta sucks. It's a great city. But New Orleans and Nashville (maybe a bit chilly but who cares? this is football, not badminton!) would be great alternate sites IMO. And I wouldn't mind having it in Tampa or Houston sometimes. All fun cities, but I like cities.

Stockholm syndrome? Atlanta is a 3rd tier 3rd world city on a good day. Like most 3rd world cities if you have enough money you can avoid some of the shitiness but not all of it.

Considering that you're a Tennessee fan, you're highly familiar with 3rd world-like conditions:

I think with OU and Texas joining there at least needs to be a rotation from Atlanta to somewhere else more west of Atlanta.

Atlanta was very centralized for the SEC before Mizzou and A&M joined, which pushed the centralization a little further out West, now with Texas and A&M joining, Atlanta just seems really far east now.

Given that A&M has been 0/10 years they’ve been in this league, Arkansas has been 3/30 years they’ve been in this league and Mizzou has been 3/10 years (and probably won’t be back there for a long, long time) this whole point seems pretty irrelevant.

Yes, there's homeless in Atlanta, it's a big city.

Knoxville, a much smaller city, is also overrun with homelessness:

Knox Co. Sheriff claims homeless are migrating from city to county; KARM CEO says homeless population is growing everywhere

Maybe they can start peddling mustard bottles and golf balls outside of Neyland before games to scratch up some cash.

Atlanta doesn't even have enough water to make sure their citizens don't die and every time there's a drought they come whining and try and steal Tennessee's water. Great city

In a much worse stadium in a city well to the West of most of the league. Yea, definitely.

Oh they could, but they don't want to.
