almost seems like a solid backup point with how well he sees the court.

He was used as a backup point at Bama and did reasonably well.

Herb didn't make a 3 in the last 10 games he played for the Tide (0-19) so that shows you the work he's put in since then.

Herb is certainly one of the most unappreciated Bama players of all time. I love his game but had to debate dumbasses for 4 years on his contributions. Mostly younger posters who had never played anything but video games and had a Basketball IQ of a pile of rocks. It is great to see him continuing to improve his shot range.

Congrats on naming only Bama athletes that went pro in New Orleans.

Nailed it.

A lot of these kids take some time to get their shot to an NBA level of consistency. It takes work and a few seasons. The improvement he has shown half way through his rookie season is a great indicator that his ceiling is way up there.

We didn’t get to see much outside shooting while at Bama because it seemed like he always had some sort of hand injury. I swear he had a soft cast/wrap for three straight years! Ha. I don’t remember one thing that he ever said or did off the court. And that’s a compliment.

Honestly, I rank his one-handed, off-hand free throws with the game on the line up there with all-time Bama sports moments.

I was at that game and it was a night to remember.

His stroke looks smooth. If he can continue to improve the outside shot with his current skills, look out. Just need Zion back

Was never a dependable 3 point threat but made enough to keep teams honest

He certainly was prior to his injury. He finished the season (following his finger dislocation) missing something like his last 17 three point attempts.

His FT% improved while he was shooting'em with his off-hand!

He was so good defensively he would cover up a lot of our flaws on that side.

And that's what this year's team is missing. I'm not saying he would single-handedly turn the defense into a top, consistent unit, but it would be a hell of a start.

Defense is one thing that makes Auburn so good right now. They're good, but not elite offensively, but defensively they may be great (they certainly are in stretches). The depth Auburn has helps tremendously with that defense. They can play hard for 40 minutes, and they don't have to be super concerned with fouls, particularly at the guards.

Jimmy Dykes is still jerking it to this.

His FT% sucked before he got hurt, and when they ran him out there with that "ham-hock wrapped around his shooting (left) hand, I fell out of my chair! I figured they'd run through their bench fouling him until Bama got behind by 20-25 points!...and sure enough, they fouled him right off the bat. When he went to the line and nailed both ends of the 2-shot foul, I fell out again!
Apparently me and Dykes were more than a little impressed!
