REM is great. I was in middle school when Monster came out so thats my go to. I know the purists always go on about their 80s catalog, and yes, it kicks arse. But Monster gets shite on by big time REM fans and I don't get it. It's a fricking great album.
The one after monster is very underrated.

I was temporarily roadie for them when they played at Ole Miss, they guy I was helping the whole time, who i thought was another roadie, was actually one if the guitar players and great guy. Micheal Stripes or whatever his name is, was one the weirdest gay dudes i have ever been around.
None of this happened

R.E.M. fans are poll smokers.

That was it. All the guys i meet from band were great, Got to watch concert from back stage and made 200 bucks. Friend of mine from Winona, Skipper i think was student programming director or some shite. There was a big fight between REMs producer and big black guy with Ole Miss over number of tickets sold, as they changed the stage design or something and could have sold a few hundred more tickets.
Stripe didn’t come into the building until 10 minutes before they started and talked with some very “out” gay people in the tunnel then ran on stage, never said a word to me. The other guys in the band actually let us go and grab a beer, food and shite from the cooler etc in their green room. It only took us about 4 hours or so to take everything down.
Cajunbama don’t tell me i wasn’t there.

There was a small restaurant not far from the campus where they used to show up and play. They used to pack the place. I saw them when I went to UGA to visit a friend who worked in the library.

What about the Black Crowes. I thought they started in or around Athens?

Nah, what’s gonna hurt worse is the future against Georgia with that 50th ranked recruiting class Napier reeled in.

Great melodic music. Back when they could beat Bama and LSU...

I read something funny about the father Robinson telling Chris who was an English major at some college something to the effect of “quit fricking around at school and go be a rock star”

love REM, but better yet, how many of you remember the Glen Miller Orchestra? They had the #1 song in 1939. Do any aggy fans love Glen Miller?
My dad who was born in 1925 loved Glenn Miller. The tape was on repeat on road trips. I can still damn near sing ‘Don’t sit under the Apple tree’ word for word. God bless the day I finally got a Walkman. Lol

Stipe is a D-Bag, but he makes some solid tunes. I like a song by them called "Can't Get There From Here" because it makes reference to my crappy small town east of Athens

The Drive By Truckers are from Muscle Shoals, AL along with Jason Isbell. Patterson Hoods father was a Swamper. Some of their members relocated to Athens but they established themselves in Muscle Shoals.
