For those that don't know, the "blue chip ratio" is the percentage of players on scholarship who were 4 or 5 star high-school recruits. I researched each roster and looked at every scholly player and his 247 Composite rating.

CBS released their top 16 (national) blue-chip rosters and AU came in at 16th. There were 8 SEC teams in that top 16. My numbers match CBS' numbers perfectly for those 8 teams. I only did this because I wanted to see how the whole SEC shaked out.

1. Bama - 88% (18 five stars)
2. UGA - 80% (12 five stars)
3. aTm - 79% (7 five stars)
4. OU - 73% (4 five stars)
5. Texas - 72% (11 five stars)
6. LSU - 70% (5 five stars)
7. Florida - 63% (4 five stars)
8. Auburn - 53% (1 five star)
9. Tennessee - 51% (5 five stars)
10. USCe - 37% (3 five stars)
11. Ole Miss - 37% (2 five stars)
12. Missouri - 36% (3 five stars)
13. Kentucky - 32% (2 five stars)
14. Arkansas - 32% (2 five stars)
15. MSU - 27% (0 five stars)
16. Vandy - 15% (0 five stars)

Observations:

* AU is slightly ahead of UT, with both being exactly middle of the league. However, UT has more 5 stars and they have a 5 star QB who will be starting. I would have to give their roster the edge just for this reason alone. On the other hand, I don't think a lot of UT fans realize their roster is 9th best in the league (lol).

* TAMU still sits at #3 despite losing a ton of blue-chippers when Jimbo left. Elko does not play Bama or UGA this year. Their hard games are Notre Dame, LSU, Texas, FL, AU and Mizzou. They get 4 of those 6 at home. Elko will have a better roster than EVERYONE on his schedule. Therefore, if he doesn't go 10-2, then it will be a failure.

* Missouri has vastly overachieved. Their roster is not strong by SEC standards. It seems they are being carried by very good QB play.

* Bama has 18 five stars.

* Georgia has dominated the past 3 seasons with worse rosters than what Saban typically had. (Don't get me wrong, UGA has had very strong rosters, but not quite Bama's squad of 5 stars).

This is why when asked how long after the season we could expect a run at an SEC championship Freeze asked for patience for 2 more recruiting cycles. The ‘25 and ‘26 class. Should bump us up to around 5th in the conference.

That would give him 3 full recruiting cycles and I don’t think that is too much to ask for. I do want to see improvement on the field this season. I want players knowing what they are doing and developing.

Great work. Still very early in the Freeze era but he’s doing things the right way. Harsin almost destroyed our program.

“Can’t make chicken salad out of chicken shite.”

Talent is the raw ingredient.
Potted meat versus filet mignon.

Why not? Decent not great roster but easy peasy schedule.

Ole Siss has a really good QB and good players at key positions. You can overcome lack of 5 stars if those things happen. They just can't have injuries as they dont have the depth of a Bama/UGA/Texas/LSU.

Remember, blue-chip ratio looks at whole roster. It would be interesting to look at starting 22 for everyone and see how the rankings change, if at all.
