How does Pearl have a 4 million buyout while Oats has a 12 million dollar buyout?

Not worried about the Terps at all. Think Bruce is loving what he’s got going in Auburn.

The only person saying this is Jeff Goodman (who has is own axe to grind with pearl for some reason)… and it’s speculation not based on any info.

Personally I don’t see it.

So Goodman thinks Maryland is a better program than Auburn’s with Pearl?

I don’t remember their history. Are they a long successful basketball school?

And I never buy Goodmans schtick bc he has an agenda when it come to Auburn.

They had a lot of success with Lefty Driesell as their HC. He retired in the late 80's. Len Bias played for him. They haven't had a lot of sustained success since then.

We would likely pay anything to keep pearl. The man is already a legend at Auburn. He has the train rolling. I'd be shocked if he entertained that job

This could just be the homer in me but Bruce has built something incredible here and should be a lock to have the arena named after him, and his son will likely get to inherit the program he’s built. I don’t see him up and leaving all that for a program like Maryland.

Think Juan Dixon took them to a final four or natty even but you’re correct. The round ball has moved south. The SEC is every bit a basketball conference as any in the country and Atlanta is a top 5 talent hub in the country. Oh and the millions of dollars Bruce gets on top of it with the new arena? Those turtles can go frick themselves

I don’t see anyway that the arena is not named after him honestly - outside of paterno/Sandusky level issue popping up. He’s gonna be our leading Coach in wins in a matter of seasons. Final four in the pocket. Building a perennial conference power. He’s untouchable here and legitimately appears happy

I used to be worried Pearl would leave but not anymore. He loves it here. It would take Kentucky/Duke/Kansas type gig for me to be worried and those places won’t come calling him. I think we are set

They went to back to back Final Fours in 01 and 02, won the National Championship in 02.

They haven't been a great program since then, but they've still been pretty fricking solid

Since Maryland joined the B1G they made the NCAAT 5/7 seasons. 1 of those 2 being 2020 when the tournament was cancelled, but they were tied for 1st in the B1G so they would've made it

Let's not get it twisted, Maryland is a good basketball program with a lot of potential to be even better. That said, not a chance in hell Pearl leaves Auburn for them. I doubt Maryland will even try to get him tbh, I think this is all just wishful thinking on the part of a handful of Terps fans on Twitter and that got picked up on/ blown out of proportion by shitty sports writers looking for a hot take.

I mean Bruce is about to be 62. Just hard for me to imagine him leaving Auburn where he is a literal god to go take over another program.

I also think his son has a way better shot at inheriting the program here than he would at Maryland

Not really just Goodman. I saw a former Maryland 247 writer endorse Bruce last week.

Gonna be weird without coach, but I’m hoping it doesn’t matter.

Yeah. Same habits that can let him take over a game can be a liability at times.
