As a fairly recent graduate we spent a lot of time at Sky, Moes (Monday bingo), The Hound (Thursday pint nights), Live Oaks (mainly day drinking), and Quixote's (now torn down). Between those 4 and the occasional visit to 1716 or The Avondale, with comedowns at Little Italy and Momma G's on Thach, we never felt we had a shortage of options. It's only expanded since then in terms of options.

The location, patio and downstairs horseshoe bar made Bodega. Could not be a better place for a bar in Auburn.

As a student in the 2007-2011 era, our general week was usually Taco Tuesday at the Bank Vault (formerly Bodega) then potentially karaoke at Sky if we were feeling it, or just continue to drink $2 wells after tacos. Wednesday was drink specials at Quixotes. Thursday was trivia at the Bank Vault and hopefully win free tacos for next week. Friday and saturday were shite shows that almost always ended at Supper Club. Just all depended on where bands were, etc.

I believe they did. It was great while it lasted though. Between botchers highlands, and Harry’s that stretch of Opelika road was a good time in the early 2000s.

Very curious as to how Auburn's fairly meager bar scene meets the need of 25k+ student body. In my day Auburn was heavy on house parties and whatnot still, but to me it seems the bar offerings were better then than now.
I mean, Sky is the size of 3 bars at most colleges. It is just a massive bar. It would take the place of probably half of Alabama's bars on their strip as far as just capacity.
There were still a ton of house parties when I was there as well, but between SB, Bank Vault, Quixotes, Bourbon Street, 1716, an Strutting Duck downtown, then Supper Club. Capacity wise those were all pretty big bars. That doesn't even factor in Fat Daddy's back when it was decent and stuff like that that was a bit off campus.
I'd love for the city to get a few more with some different variety though.

Used to be a cool bar back behind the old KA House called the Amsterdam Café. Good live music. And a cool game called Shulbok. With early craft beers back in the day. I’m sure it’s probably closed now. That and Darnell’s were my two favorite bars. Harry’s for a late night longneck beer, too.

Yep, spent most of my time between Darnell's & Supper Club.

I believe it's still there, but don't think it's really the same. I loved that Shulbok table!

Yea, it is more of a medium to high end restaurant now, not really a bar you go drink at in that sense. When I was there, it was very, very good. I've heard it has gone downhill some, but haven't tried it since college, so who knows.

I'll be honest, I feel bad for the students down there now because the bar scene seems to be just
When I was at Auburn, what is now Skybar was a dance club called (at various times) Ultrabox, Neon's, and Auburn's Fourth Quarter. I have heard some really bad things about the folks who own it. I met them a few times and they were really arrogant. I never understood why they were so strict on certain dress codes (no cowboy boots/hats) but didn't mind letting in every GI Joe on a weekend pass from Ft. Benning.
For a long time there was a bar called Little Ireland's that sat between the club and the shops at 114 W. Mag. The folks who own Skybar eventually bought the space and expanded into there.
A buddy of mine and I used to hang at the bar at the Knights Inn up in Opelika. He was friends with the manager/drummer in the house band.
I also have good memories of Roosters across Magnolia from Lowder. On the last day of classes one of our MIS profs went with us over there and bought the first round to celebrate the end of the spring semester.

Can’t figure out why that game didn’t catch on. I’ve looked for it at other bars, even googled it a time or two. What a great drinking game that was. So much fun.

Still there, but pretty different. We still go when we're in town because my wife still loves the Turkey Wrap that is unchanged since the '90's.

I have a shuffleboard table in the basement. Very similar.

Was it kinda downstairs? I think that's where I spent my graduation night.

I mean, outside of Supper Club and Bodega (admittedly big time losses) being gone, it is probably the best it has been in a long, long time for a college student. The downtown options are by far the best they've been.
Sky Bar
Southeastern
1716
Avondale
Ale House
The Hound
Live Oaks
Moe's
That is all downtown. There are other good enough restaurant/bars as well i'm leaving out. What Auburn is missing currently are your dive bars that most have been mentioning from year's past. The current college crowd doesn't care much for those. I think they could also do well to have a brewery or brewpup, but it would probably need to be a secondary location of an already established brand.

Boom Boom room still exist in the back.

I think so. The more I think about it, there was also a copy place, like Kinkos, in that little strip as well.
The Blue Room, as it was called at the time, expanded into the entire space.
I was living in an apartment up above where Moe's is now when Blue Room expanded. They brought in a crane, pulled it into the parking lot behind the building (still not sure how they got down that little alley), and swung a rooftop HVAC unit across our cars to put it up on the roof of that building.

What is currently located on the corner (former vault site)? Last time I was there it was some mediocre pizza place
