Didnt PAM even write an article a week ago that said that Auburn should hold on to Gus this year? Now saying this has been a 2 year strategic move to get Steele?! These guys have ZERO intel.

And... frick you, Lanier. Nice of you to come out of hiding. Sorry for your loss. Positive note, Gus will have some free time now. You can take him fishing or suck his dick, whatever you're into.

"We seem to get a lot of rumors this time of year. I can say that I haven’t been contacted. I don’t know if my agent has been contacted, I talk to him every single day."
Cristobal says that he hasn't been contacted. He says he doesn't know if his agent has been contacted, but he talks to him every single day.
Wouldn't Cristobal saying that he doesn't know if his agent has been contacted, but also adding that he talks to him every single day imply that Cristobal's message is that he or his agent have not been contacted.
This is nitpicky. I had no malicious intent and I am not a fricking journalist. There is no standard for my posts. Go suck a dick, Lanier.

So basically all the fans that wanted Gus gone are going to get Steele now. Haha. Bunch of morons

If it is MC, I don’t expect any announcement until after the Pac 12 championship game Friday.

Which would be respectful and make perfect sense, something we don't typically understand on this board.
Its not Steele. We would have announced already if it was Steele, there is no other reason to wait.
Napier and Cristobal both still have games this weekend.

It is totally different situation for him. If he says he doesn't know if his agent has been contacted, he has a out for his statements. Its different if just slightly. It gives him wiggle room. IF your going to post info like a trailer park insider, atleast just copy and past it like some of the other insiders here. Don't change it...

I absolutely do not think that will be there case. I think MC is the #1 target. There are other guys out there that would be targeted if they fail on MC
Auburn is the best job available right now. They should be able to make a good hire. Steele would be a total joke and failure

Repeat after me:
Auburn football has no insiders and the shite I’m reading online is false.
This isn't true. Philip Marshall and guys like that are not "insiders", they are mouthpieces who sometimes get used to break news (rarely) and other times to spread misinformation.
There ARE however "insiders" who have actual information. Its not always consistent and some of that is misinformation as well, but I can tell you outright that I've heard in one way or another that Cristobal would be a major target (if not THE top target) for essentially a year now. Fast forward to today, Gus is out, and what's happening? We're waiting on Cristobal. He has absolutely been contacted and why do you think Oregon is rushing to try to extend him? What do you think that non-answer from him last night was? The PAC12 title game threw a wrench in things because he's a classy guy and I don't think he wants to do anything until that's done, but if he had no interest he'd have shot that down and/or signed his extension by now.
I can also tell you that the Gus being fired stuff was being talked about at least a week before it happened. Lots of talk about how the decision was made and the MSU game wouldn't matter. I was hinting at that for weeks on here while people kept repeating "blah blah buyout", "he's not getting fired", etc. What ended up happening? He got fired even after a win, which means that it was already decided that he was out. So again, "insiders" absolutely did know that this was in the pipeline.
Finally, I don't buy the Steele stuff. If anything thats the part of this entire story that's misdirection. I haven't heard anything about the "money guys" being enamored with him for years like its now being claimed by idiots like PM. There might be one guy who wants Steele as HC, but think about it - if there was a consensus (ie: multiple BOT members) he'd have been hired by now. Why haven't they announced it? With early signing day if you have your guy picked out it makes no sense to not just announce it. I'm not going to pretend like Steele would be an impossibility because this is Auburn after all, but I'd be mind-blown if the plan here was to eat Gus' buyout, then replace him with a guy who's about to turn 63 in a few months who would excite absolutely nobody.

As usual, the trolls like to start "how good is the AU job" threads. Just looking at revenues the past 3-4 years, and AU is around 3rd highest in the SEC. That is with a lame duck coach. With the addition of the football only facilities, the AU job has the potential to be one of the best in CFB. Very important we hire a guy that knows how to build a program. I am fine with vetting a few guys. #NoSteele

FWIW, some local TV sports reporters with blue check marks speculating via sauces.

I hope that Napier is really gaining some traction. He probably wouldn't be announced until Sunday due to playing in the Sun Belt championship. I would hope that he would want to keep it quiet for his current players' sake.

That article doesn’t change shite. If Oregon doesn’t offer what auburn is he will be the auburn coach.

Oregon is going to do what they can to keep him, which is going to drive our offer up. PLUS, he has an 8mil buyout....I don't think that is justifiable when someone just as good or potentially better like Napier is available and significantly more affordable. Offer Napier 12mil for 4 years and lets go.
