He was a jet sweep guy for part of the season in 2011, IIRC.

He had about 25 carries all season. Most of them were in the bowl game

9 carries in the bowl game. He probably averaged 2 carries a game.

So more than 30% of his carries were in the last game of the season. Certainly not the definition of "Most" but lets be real. Its a big chunk of them.

So Whitlow had a much better first year than Mason.

Absolutely, he got more opportunities. But I think we should pump the brakes on comparing him to Tre at this point. Lets see how he does this year.
Personally, I dont think he is even close. But I hope I am wrong. He just does not have the wow factor. Solid back and can rack up some yards if we learn to block but I dont see us remembering him in 5 years. CAP was a great comparison by someone.

I will take KJ's word over any of you naysaying dimwits.
Marking my spot for a late season bump after Boobie drags his nuts all over the SEC this season.

So Kam Martin = Cas Moore.
Wonder who will be our Ronnie Brown?

quote:since you brought up Tre, I remember quite vividly ppl saying he was nothing but a scatback and he was never going to be good enough to pick up tough yards in the SEC before 2013... I believe it was about a 50/50 split on who wanted to start, CAP or Mason during the preseaason.

people asserting how good a RB will be after a year is extremely irrational

Absofreakinglutely. I remember that, and heck, I could have said it. But Tre's ability to squirt for an extra two yards when he was 2 inches off the ground, being tackled, was crazy. He and Nick made for a special year.

I think he has a little more home run potential than CAP, but I think right now it is an apt comparison.

I don't . I remember most people being high on Mason. I was not one of them. So glad I was wrong that that.
But in my defense, 53% of his 2012 yards did come in out of conference play.

Went back to look at the thread I made about mason. It is locked so i can't bump it. Most people liked mason
Also I melted super hard when we hired Gus. Still took us nearly a decade to finally fire Jay Jacobs retarded arse.

“That was me, baw.”
I remember many arguments with him saying Tre Mason wasn’t a scatback.
