I stand corrected. I just found an Auburn fan that isn’t a fan. Terrible take by the way - Cubelic shows his love for Auburn all the time. He is one of the few analysts who doesn’t pretend not to be a fan of any school ( cough cough noted Auburn alum Barrett Sallee)

He goes out of his way to tamp down expectations for Auburn. Thats not a terrible take, its what he does.

I dunno, I feel better about this year than Cole does. I can see AU surprising some folks and getting 9 wins

Seems like another year similar to the last 4-5 years. Defense is good enough to keep us in some games, but the giant question mark is the offense again.

The key to this entire season is the offensive line in my opinion. From what I’ve read, this system is much more complex that what Gus did so there will be a big learning curve in addition to the questionable talent level. At least they’re an experienced group.

I know Bobo traditionally has not relied heavily on the qb run game but he’ll be doing this team a disservice by not leaning heavily on Bo’s athleticism to take pressure off the oline, especially early on.

Literally not one person has gotten mad at Cole or spoken negatively of him. I don’t know a single Auburn fan that doesn’t love him.

They are in this thread and have been saying this on the board for a while

CC does say that Nick Brahms is the top SEC center.

That alone tells me he is not going to be truly accurate in his assessment. Maybe Brahms is top center by defacto but there will be better centers than him IMO.

I had to look it up, but apparently they adopted a kangaroo as their mascot.

I don't know what interview you watched, but my takeaway from Cole and Chiz is

15-0 Ship!

I listen to Cubelic a lot and think you’re way off base here.

Agree to disagree then. You like what he has to say. I dont. I think he placates to his cronies in the media so he doesnt sound like a homer.

Gonna have to downvote you here for no other reason than mentioning Marcelo’s name in a positive way.

This is a head-scratcher for me. He's never been good, but the SEC coaches voted him 2nd team all-SEC, so what do I know. I still believe my lying eyes though. Both in 2019 and 2020 Brahms consistiently got pushed around. 2019 was really bad but I would assume his leg and lack of training had a lot to do with his performances that year. I either read something similar here or somewhere else; if the AU OL can just be average in pass protection - both in assigments and execution - then we'll have a chance to win every game we play. If we split the +/- 7 pt. spread games that's probably double digit wins.

On Cubelic and AU fandom. AU fans come in two flavors. The lolipop guild of sunshine, and the Ruskie-like proselytizers of despair. Cubelic seems to be neither in the context of his job.

I'm of the opinion that if a fan base can't decide whether a commentator hates or likes their team, he's probably close to impartial. Bear in mind, from the perspective of a fan's bias a neutral opinion will still seem negative. I'd rather Cole represent Auburn well and be good at his job than be a homer like some that we see.
