Do the return statistics take into account penalty yardage?

quote:

Kickoff return stats:
#36 in average return (22.13)

Definitely supports that thought that it wasn't use ever returning. Just going off of memory, but I don't remember a ton of returns being from overly short kicks, so we were still catching it around the goaline or so. So, if we would have just fair cought the ball, we'd gain almost 3 yards give or take.

quote:

Punt return defense:
#9 in average given up (3.75)
#5 in total punt return yardage allowed (30)
#6 in total punt returns allowed (8)
#21 in net punting (41.24)

These are all good. Chapman did a really good job most of the year at not giving guys returnable punts.

quote:

Punt return:
#82 in average return (6.84)

yuck. I don't know what it is but punters always seem to punt great against us and even with our struggles at the return position, are rarely given great opportunities to return things.

Not sure but this is from Google AI

quote:

In 2024, the Auburn Tigers football team committed 70 yards in special teams penalties over eight games. These penalties often gave the opposing team an advantage in field position early in the game. Explanation Auburn had special teams penalties in every conference game during the season. Most of the penalties occurred on kick returns. One penalty early in a game prevented Auburn from advancing either of Kentucky's kickoffs out of the endzone. Another penalty in the third quarter resulted in a 16-yard punt return that was brought back to Auburn's 10-yard line.

Trovon Reed to USC as CB coach

LINK

quote:

Reed is the only cornerbacks coach in the nation to have two of his players compete in the 2025 Reese's Senior Bowl.

Reed also tutored freshman Chasen Johnson. A two-time PFF Freshman of the Week, Johnson collected 18 tackles, with 0.5 for loss of 1 yard and 2 PBUs while seeing action in 12 games with 4 starts.

Prior to UCF, Reed spent three seasons (2021-23) at Auburn as the Tigers' director of football and recruiting relations. While at Auburn, he became a fixture in recruiting and helped the Tigers land several top recruits. In 2024, Reed helped Auburn sign the No. 8 recruiting class in the nation, per On3 and Rivals. The Tigers also recorded two Top 20 recruiting classes in 2022 and 2023. In 2021, Auburn had a coaching vacancy, and Reed was able to be elevated into an authorized off-campus recruiter.

Good for him. Get that experience in just in time for whenever Coach Crime retires and we can bring him on home

Yes Oscar was a great punter for us but made a game changing decision on the fake late in the year.

As far a punt return defense we were posting negative yardage until the last 2-3. I think we had given up on the year at that point -6 return yards.

But those last 3 games, the failed fake, 3 shanks, and gave up the big return to bama.
