Oh you know, maybe winning football games? That Auburn fans are paying good money to go watch? And perhaps convince some recruits that we can have a competent offense next year (and team period)?

But we'll be seeing Thorne the rest of the way barring injury, Hugh can't afford to look even more incompetent by having a backup make the offense work well after 9 games of stupidity. His only potential excuse that he's hanging his hat on is that we don't have a competent QB on the roster, a chronic blame deflector like Freeze can't have that excuse go away at years end.

because Freeze has been sitting the best QB on the roster all season.
AGAIN, next years QB is not on our roster. IF he is, we are screwed worse than we know.

Coaches start weaker QBs due to seniority and other reasons quite commonly. This acting like it doesn't happen and head coaches are infallible judging talent is one of the dumbest pieces of rhetoric I've seen on here. 1998 would be a perfect example, Gabe Gross started over Leard for most of the year, and Leard went on to be a perfectly serviceable SEC starter.

Would Brown starting lead us to amazing success? Hell no, and if our starter next year isn't a high level transfer I'll be pissed and have zero expectations for the season. But could he have gotten more wins than Thorne? Odds are pretty high I'd say since it'd literally be nearly impossible to win less.

The only truly weird thing is Freeze absolutely sticking with Thorne despite a completely terrible offense and losing non stop. It's almost unheard of for a coach to not try different QB when an offense is as inept as we have been.

but he did...........and we were just as bad. That's the thing. We have a true freshman and nothing else. That's why we have to get a top notch portal QB..........money be damned.

We were in that same position this year and he did nothing. He did not bring in a portal guy. He stuck with the loser he brought in two years ago

With us having a bye week and then playing La-Monroe, I will be shocked if he does not spend the next two weeks, plus the LaMonroe game letting someone else get snaps.

We will see

QB's with no experience can not get that experience on the bench. That's been frustrating that none of them have been getting any snaps

The season was over at Missouri.

Thorne staying as the starter is Gus Malzahn level stubbornness.

And it is the exact reason that next year will be Freeze’s last season at Auburn (unless we have a Cam Newton/Nick Marshall miracle).

If Hank had started every game since Arkansas, our record would not be worse and our offense would not be emotionally dead.
